Well, if you need MS Word ASAP, I'd recommend downloading the Trial version of MS Office Home & Student 2010, so you can get your immediate work done, well, immediately. There are "trial" versions of other versions of MS Office, but there is no downloadable trial for the "Home and Student" version.

You can not legally download microsoft word/office for free. But what you can use is OpenOffice an open source and free version of the software that is very similar to microsoft words, that even provides compatible formats! You can find it here: http://www.openoffice.org/ Lastly you can download a limited free trial of office here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA101741481033.aspx But if your looking for a "free" version of microsofe office, just use "Open office" in the first link I posted.
