Blinking light on Westell 6100 DSL modem

The USB light on the front of my Verizon Westell 6100 DSL modem recently began blinking 24 hours a day, roughly once a second. What might be causing that? It's never done it before in the 3-plus years that I've had the modem. The blinking began shortly after anti-virus protection caught and quarantined a virus, so I'm wondering if my computer is perhaps still infected. All scans however now come up clean. I've re-booted computer and modem several times, and unplugged USB cable and plugged it back in, but nothing stops the blinking. The other lights do not blink. Any ideas or suggestions?

Same model here except it's connected via ethernet...even when the PC is turned off the ethernet and internet lights blink about every second. It hasn't been doing it too long; I think it started a few weeks ago. I haven't noticed any difference in performance.

Recently reformatted hard drive, everything working fine, did virus scan detected hacking tool, tracking tools, and spyware. All removed. Computer running very good, DSL working to but when I turn off my computer I noticed this morning that the ethernet light and my internet light were continually blinking just like they do when I'm on the internet. Westell 6100 modem. Is someone using my computer when I'm not? Very concerned.

Same here with ethernet light - had the modem for over a year and it never did this before. I have not changed any hardware or software recently. The light started blinking about 1 week ago. I suspect it's something Verizon did with the DSL, but it's way too hard to get any answers from the India branch of Verizon support.

Blinking light means that firmware on your DSL modem just got updated. The modem is pinging the Networ/Computer connected to it. If you open your Modem Page 192.168.1.1 you will see the difference, unless you never have done it before.

Don't worry i just called verizon tech support about the exact same problem and was told by the technician that the blinking light represents the Ethernet connection is searching for a signal, which it does constantly.

How do i connect my verizon dsl westell 6100 to my belkin g rtr?

Wellll....since it seemed an impossible task, I tried the next best thing.
I bought a wireless adapter for the other pc and voila! they are on the internet, and I am returning the router.

Westell modem + Verizon DSL w/usb = No connection to router.

Green blinking internet light on verizon westell 6100 modem.

Yes. When you power down the modem you are suppose to power down the pc. That is what the machine tell you before you get a tech person. It could be that your cache is getting full causing slow speeds.

DSL Modem

That means that the phone is interfeering with the broadband. Often you fix this kind of problems by replacing the broadband filter. If it does not work after replacement it means there is a problem either with phone line or with broaband provider.
In this case contact first ISP (broaband provider), then your phone company to locate the problem.
Most likely it is the filter.

I can't get on line

A blinking DSL light means that you have no DSL sync -- you are not receiving a digital signal. You will need to contact your ISP to have them repair your service.

Steps to do first:
1. Powercycle the modem -- unplug the power from the back for 15 secs, plug it back up.
2. Ensure that all phones that share a line with the DSL have filters attached.

My ethernet light is blinking

Make sure you have internet. The ethernet light is blinking because what ever u have plugged into it is talking to the modem. The modem will then take that request and ask for it on the DSL/internet line. Make sure the DSL light is steady on and the internet light is on or flashing with activity.
