Was starting to make a latte and it stopped half way through and all lights started blinking. I've cleaned it out (manually, as per instructions), emptied it out. As it's brand new, can't see it needs descaling (and orange light not on). Nothing else seems to be out of order, and it's been working perfectly for one week. Took the milk compartment out to see if I could make just normal espressos and can't. It won't do a'thing now except blink (all lights at same time, four times in quick succession).
Your machine has almost certainly entered the water quality mode. (Water hardness setting). This is very easy to fix. Switch machine off. Before switching back on press and hold any off the following buttons: Latte Macchaito (top right) for soft water, Cappuccino (bottom right) for medium water or finally both of them for hard water. While holding the correct buttons switch the machine back on BUT hold for approx. 10 seconds or until all lights stop flashing, (APART FROM THE BUTTON YOUR HOLDING). This will reset the machine and you're good to go. Regards Coffee Engineer!

If you just bought it you should return it immediately and try another.

1080p60 is a genius!
he is correct. the owner's manual gives you the impression that it is a three step process: 1) turn machine off. 2) push large coffee cup icon. 3) turn machine back on. BUT it does not make it clear that after turning the machine off, you must hold the coffee cup icon down WHILE turning the machine on. solved the problem perfectly. thank you 1080p60!

SOURCE: The Nespresso won't make coffee yellow light keeps blinking
This is because there is either too much water in the drip tray, the empties container is full or the drip tray is not placed correctly. This took me a while to figure out as well, and the manual was little help. Nespresso is located in Switzerland so their support number is international. Hope this helps someone...

I've tried it again, and it will start to make a coffee (ie sounds like it's working) but then it seems to think it is still emptying, as water then comes out into the drip tray. So keep going through the emptying process again as it seems to think it's in that mode. Don't know how to 'reset'.
And now that I've done that (emptying) again, just four blinks all the time. Won't do anything. Had a power outage last night, but have surge protectors, so assuming that all is ok. Anyway, it switches itself off, so shouldn't have affected it.
