POWER ON THEN OFF IN A FEW SECONDS

  • duderotomy Feb 26, 2009

It begins to turn on and then after maybe 2 or 3 seconds decides to turn off again.
I was hoping since it just decided one day to do this, that it might just decide to work again. But it has been about 4 days with nothing.
    Any ideas?

I have an lg plasmas model # 42pc5d-uc the tv is not turning on. When I push the power button the red light flashes a few times I hear a click & nothing happens it goes back to a solid red light...

All put the name in with the model. Its a LG .Your power supply is down. This could be capitator or transitor bad if the caps are swelled up replace them with the same value .

Will not turn on. I hear a humming sound for a few seconds and then it goes away until I push the power button again. But no picture, or audio

projection TV`s have many protective circuits in them, they protect your CRT`s from damage, over voltage called x-ray, and many others, you need to have it checked before the damage is more costly your TV is not happy and needs to be checked

TV will not turn on

There are a few reasons that this could be happening first one is maybe the lamp died on you, Afraid there is no way to test this other than replacing the lamp. The second problem may be 5 capacitors on the power supply that hold the 12 volt line low and do not allow the light engine to start properly.
First thing you have to do is listen to how it trys to start, It should sound like this, first when you hit the power switch there may be a click then within five seconds the fans then a few seconds more you may here a sparking noise, if all this is happening then you most likely just have a bad lamp

TV Won'T Turn On

A fuse is not your problem. this TV has a safty feture that when it senses a problem it cuts the power to prevent any fouther damage, when you un plug it the TV resets and it will turn on agian. I have the same TV Check the CRT light guns there are 3 of them. If one goes bad it will cause your problem.

Push Power button, green light goes on for a few seconds then nothing....

I would suggest taking a look at the power module if that can be replaced. The Fuse blowing may have only been the beginning of the problem. Any recent issues with under or over voltage in your home?
