I need instructions for this old Barrecrafters ski rack. It;'s all together but need to know how to adjust the metal extendors that attach to edge of roof
We figured this one out today, after pounding, twisting, sliding, gerunding, etc.
It will not slide backward (as a safety mechanism, of course) unless your latches (the ones that connect / clamp onto the car) are completely loose. That means, that looking at the rack from the end, you'll see this oblong deal that you'll use to tighten the rack to a car. As you turn it clockwise the rack will tighten, right?
Ok. Just make sure that that guy is as loose as he gets, and your piece will slide back just fine.

screw driver , goes underneith the rack in a slot. turning the screw type head make the strap come in and out. get it out and attach it to the rain gutter of your vehicle on both sides the screw it in evenly on each side to keep it strainght until its tight.
Yes! Thank you thank you thank you. The screwdriver underneath is the answer.
The screw on my Barrecrafter was hidden about 3-4 inches inside the tube (looking in from the end of the rack. And the screw turn was backwards - turn to the Right to loosen, the Left to tighten
