Replace door springs

Door drops down with a crash unless held. I presume its either the door springs or the cable and pully that needs replaced. washer works without a problem.

Yes , you are right this seems only a mechanical problem and it can be rectified by resetting and replacing the hinges or the spring associated with the stay on the door.

SOURCE: DOOR LATCH DOES NOT CMPLETE INTERLOCK UNLESS PUSHED IN

hi billy

the most likely cause is probably the interlock switch has gained some play through wear an tear replacing it may solve it but first check that the door hinge hasnt been put out of alignment by the door being pushed open futher than needed. fitting a new interlock switch is relatively easy on most models www.espares.com might have it

hope this helps

How do i fix the cables on the sides of the door

Do you have a regular residential garage door? The height of the door should be between 6'-8'. Typically your Door will have two separate springs which run parallel with the upper horizontal section of door track. Since only one side is broken, repairs will be easy. Look or take photos of the undamaged side. Now look at the damaged side. Find out why the cable broke. Get a pen and paper and take notes. If you only need a cable. Remove the cable completely. This cable is your length sample, measure its entire length. How are the cable clamps and can they be reused? How are the pulleys? Are the bearings silent, tight and spin freely? Do both springs appear to be undamaged? Look for areas where the coils don't touch. If you find spots, condemn the spring. Springs should be the same age so replace them as a set if needed. If you do need springs. They are easy to obtain at a home improvement store, hardware store or online. Unless the information /tap is still attached to the spring. The hardest part will be finding out what your door weighs. You should be able to use your bathroom scale unless your door is extra wide, then you will need two scales. For wide doors, two scales, one at each end. For smaller doors, one scale, in the middle of the door. CAUTION: Do not let the door slam down onto the scale. Use wooden blocks that are higher than the scale/s and put them in place first. Don't be a hero or hurt your back. Ask someone to help you lower the door down onto the blocks. Then gently remove the blocks and lower the door onto the scale/s. After the door is on the scale you will need to carefully remove the tension on the other counterweight spring. How much does your door weigh? Divide that number by two. Write down that weight. That number plus the hight of the door is all you need to choose the correct spring for your door. If you have any questions please let me know. Good Luck.

Broken door spring on kitchenaid dishwasher

Hello,

Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs. Before repairing the door springs, unplug the dishwasher or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The door opens and closes with the aid of springs. If the springs (or the cables that connect them on some dishwashers) break, the door will drop open hard. The door will also be heavier when closing. If the door drops open, it may also bend the door hinges out of shape resulting in a door that does not close properly and possibly leaks.

When replacing the springs or cables, all of them should be replaced at the same time.
To access the door springs and cables remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to get to the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel.
There are two common types of spring assemblies. One type connects the springs from a hook on the dishwasher cabinet of to a tang on the door hinge .

Dishwasher soap dish won't stay closed

Unless you know anything about replacing your soap dish, if is on warranty, I would call them to service it. It might be cheaper in the long-run.

Garage door does not open. goes up about 4 inches. disconnected from opener and still can't open. checked wheels in frame move by hand. opener works when not attached to door.

You probably have a broken torsion spring. If you have a spring on a shaft above the door (usually 2 if it is a double door) then you have a torsion spring. From this shaft you have a 2 cables wound on a drum going down to the bottom of the door. If it is a single door, then this cable will be loose. If you have a double door, then most likely one spring is broken. This allows the door to open slightly, until one side is trying to lift(good spring) and the other side cannot (broken spring) Unless you are an EXTREMELY CONFIDENT DIYer then you should leave this do a door repairman as winding a torsion spring is dangerous, and can break bones or even kill. Now if your door has extension springs on each side of the track, with a pully and cable, then these can easily be replaced yourself. Check that cables are connected to the springs and the door and that one didn't break or come loose or cable off pully and binding.

Hotpoint WF340 washer machine. I have noticed the rubber seal just as you open the door has gathered water and now begins to smell, can you tell be if i can replace it, how much the part would be and how...

the door seal can be changed from the out side of the washer but its a devel of a job to do
its held on by 2 spring clips, one around the outer door seal you hook this off then you fold the seal inside out and the other spring is on the inner drum
to fit a new door seal first turn it inside out and clip the sealing spring over the inner drum, them pull the door seal over the outer caseing and put the spring round that bit,,,
net easy i sead!!!
if i were you if the old door seal is not leaking leave it be,,, just clean it up with a drop of bleach it should have drain holes in it have a look to see of there not blocked up, when ever its washing it should get flushed out every wash,, unless its blocked up,,,

Door spring does not work.

bryan,
I do not have a place to order parts for a Neff dishwasher, but I know these dishwashers have springs in each hinge that will wear out/break over the years.
Replacing those springs will stop the door from drooping open.
Good Luck!

Dishwasher ''soft drop door'' mechanism came apart - door now drops

I had a similar issue as described by mc1bean. One day my Jenair dishwasher door just fell down. The right side spring was fine. The left side spring was still hooked into the door hinge but the cable was laying on the floor in 2 pieces. Over time it wore down and broke. I ordered just the soft drop cable. Now I could not find any installation instructions how to install the soft drop cable. After a few tries I think I got it right. Here are the instructions for hooking up the right side spring with the cable. The spring has to be hooked into the door hinge at the notch closer to the door. The end of the cable with the hook has to be hooked into the other side of the spring. The cable should lead from the bottom around the pulley up to the door hinge again. Now the other end of the cable has to be hung into the door hinge on the notch further away from the door. There is some slack, but it is not quite enough for the cable to get over the pulley when in rest position and undo itself.
I hope this helps others who have the same issue.

Opening theGarage door manually

two problems. why aren't inner and outter trolley connecting. did you leave rope is disconnect position. Second problem is door springs do not seem balanced. you should be able to lift door halve way up and let go. it should pretty much stay there; go up or down slowly ok. fly up or crash down; need to adjust springs/cables or maybe wrong springs.

Passenger side window goes down on it's own.

you need to replace the window winder unit. not the electronic switch but the motor/pully system which rolls the window up and down. if u can get the door panel off, you can replace it yourself for around $120, or you can macgyver a fix, without bying new parts. look for a loose cable on the winder unit, thats what will tell u that the winder unit is bad.
