Could be filter is blocked. Or drain pipe is blocked.
Fact it wouldn't spin, could point to blockage, as spin won't start if too much water in drum. Bad news is, it could be the water pump needs renewed.
Make sure drain pipe is properly connected to the waste pipe, and clear of obstruction.

Testimonial: "Thank You, yes it was definitely the drain pipe blocked with a sock! We found a video online on how to open the machine low and behold the sock! Everything is working perfectly now! Thanks Again!"

SOURCE: My washer does not wash the clothes or go through the spin cycle.

It sound like a belt problem. Try to move tub manually first, in case it move smoothly -open the front panel, the belt should be between the motor and the drive pulley (lower front). In case it torn or not in its place, you should replace it. In case it doesn't move smoothly - maybe that a sock or other piece of clothing get between the clothes tub and the outer tub and prevent tub's spining. If this is the situation, it should be removed. Good luck !!

SOURCE: old model rca washer machine...will not agitate/wash the clothes, does spin.

If the washer fills up with water and you hear the motor running but the agitator doesn’t move, the agitator coupling is the most likely problem. First pump the water out by turning the timer to spin. Once the water is out, turn the washer off. Now pull up on the agitator until it comes off (it may be hard to pull off). Now that the agitator is off, you can see the agitator coupling, reach down and try to turn the coupling. If the coupling turns freely, it is striped out and needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: washer fills with water but wont drain

Check your lid switch. If your washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle or drain, the problem is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

NOTE: Some washer models have the lid switch located near either the left or right hinge of the lid. This type of switch is activated by a rod on the hinge pin. If not functioning, it can often be adjusted by bending the hinge rod until it engages the switch.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

PS You do not have to drain the washer to complete this repair. Once the switch is replaced the washer will drain on its own. This may save you the need to bail water again.

SOURCE: washing machine drains, wont spin, making clicking

If your washer won't spin, check these: It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows: If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt. If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. It pumps, but doesn't spin If your washer pumps out the water but doesn't spin, check these: The lid switch may be defective. If it is, the washing machine doesn't spin. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it. A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.) The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician. The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor. The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle. Call a qualified appliance repair technician.
It spins only with the lid closed For safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

SOURCE: i have an asko quattro

Hi, Welcome to FixYa. Have you checked the pump to insure the filter isn't clogged, or do you know where it is and how to check it ? If its clogged it won't allow the clothes to spin out enough due to water extraction being prevented. The insert/filter is located on most Asko washer below the main basket door behind a toe panel or square access door. Once found, turn it counter-clockwise to remove it and clean inside thoroughly. Let me know how you do or if you don't understand or even needing more assistance. Thanks for choosing Fixya and good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)

Washing Machines will not rinse or spin

If the water won't drain out of your washing machine, either something is stuck in the drain hose or pump, or the pump is broken. Both fixes are simple if you're even just a little bit handy with tools. We're showing the repair on a Maytag washing machine.
What is wrong with a washer that does not spin?
If your washer fills with water but doesn't agitate, the problem is likely to be a faulty lid switch, a broken belt, or a problem with the motor. (Note: Direct-drivewashing machines do not have belts.) To diagnose the problem, do the following: 1Check the washing machine's spin cycle.

What causes a washing machine not to drain and spin?
If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing.

Washer will not drain:

Thedrain water pumpis the main part in your washing machine that pumps out the water. If this is defective or has failed in any way, this will be the reason why your washer will not drain the water. Before you order a new drain pump, make sure tocheck the pump to be sure a small object like clothing or similar has not lodged itself insideof it causing the NO DRAIN issue and even a no spin issue?. If the drain pump is not clogged, you can test it with a multimeter and remove and replace if needed. Go to Google or YouTube and search for "Replace Washing Machine Drain Pump" then type your brand and model number of washer to show you details on replacement.

The washing machinedrain hoseis where the water flows through to get the water out.If this drain hose is blocked, kinked, bent, or clogged, the washer will NOT be able to remove the waterfrom the tub. Check the drain hose to be sure it allows the water to flow freely. You can take the drain hose off and run water through it in your sink to be sure it is not blocked. If there is water STILL in the washer when you remove the drain hose, grab a bucket as the water will exit from where you disconnected it
Thewater pump belt(to drain out the water) may have broke or become frayed or loose. If this belt breaks then it is unable to drain and remove the water from your washer. Inspect the belt to see if this is causing theNO DRAINissue and remove and replace if needed.

If thelid switchis not working as required it will cause your washer to not drain (and many other problems). This may be unlikely as a bad lid switch will usually cause your washer to alsonot agitate or spin. However on some models this can vary. The best thing to do if you have a suspected bad lid switch is to test it. It can fail electrically and or mechanically. If mechanical failure is the issue, you should be able to see if it is cracked, broken, or not in place to make contact with the lid. To test it electrically, use a multimeter set on Ohms and test it for continuityMy advice is free cuz God is good!

My whirlpool duet washer front loader wont wring out the clothese properly. We have replace the drain pump and cleared all the hoses and filters. It also doesn't seem to go in to real fast spin.

First, make sure your machine is not overloaded. Overloading will not allow the machine to spin out properly. Also, make sure its fairly level. Next, make sure that all the shocks on the drum are properly attached and in working order (after you pull off the access panel, the shocks are readily visible -- there are typically 4 of them, 2 in front, 2 in back). Their heads slip into a slot and then twisting them locks them in. Finally, I would pull of the drain line leading from the drain filter to the tub basin. Once its off, stick your hand up into the basin. All kinds of yuck tends to collect there, semi-obstructing the drain line, which permits more water to remain in the basin, which doesn't allow your machine to spin as quickly as it otherwise would.

Washer won't drain or spin, get F2 error

Hello hernandez160,

The "F2" error is referring to excessive drain time. Unplug machine before working on it. Remove screws on bottom of lower panel and remove panel. The drain pump is behind the panel, It has a large round door on it, turn counter clock wise by hand to access pump clean out. Have lots of towels ready. Remove anything from pump (usually kids socks or small clothing articles). If nothing in pump clean out remove suction boot from drain pump and check there. If nothing there blow through the drain hose from the pump side to check if anything is stuck in the hose. If that's clear check the electrical connection on the pump, make sure nothing is loose or broken at the connection. If all this checks out good and it still wont work you probably have a bad pump and it will need to be replaced. If you do find something was blocked or clogged due to small clothing articles I would recommend a garment/lingerie bag to keep all the small stuff together during the wash cycle. Hope this helps to fix your problem. Please remember to rate this and every solution you get.
Thanks,

My Whirlpool Duet is eating small articles of clothing!

Okay...first of all, the "F02" error code is a Long Drain error. This is usually caused by debris clogging the drain pump. There is a drain reservoir that needs to be cleaned out periodically. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615268-f02_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

Keep in mind, it does not take much to damage these small drain pumps. If anything has been left in the pump for a significant period of time, it can damage the pump motor or impeller. The result: a drain pump that "appears" to be running, but may not be pumping anything. If the error code returns, you may have to replace the drain pump.

The socks getting lodged in the rubber door boot can be a common problem. Well...I should say, its not uncommon for this to happen. Due to the design of the rubber folds in the door boot, it can often collect small items. Sixteen socks is not a new record. I found over 20 one time! This rubber door boot must be inspected after EACH wash load to ensure items do not get stuck there. This can result in articles of clothing beginning to mildew and smell over a period of time as well. There are also small drain holes in the folds that help drain away some of the residual water. If these holes become clogged, water will stand in this area and begin to smell. The following link explains the recommended steps to keep this area clean:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r513372-front_loader_mildew_odor

In addition, it is not unheard of to have small articles of clothing (such as socks, underwear and wash cloths) to manage to work their way between the inner spin basket (stainless steel tub) and the outer tub shell and get lodged in the drain hose. I would recommend you inspect the drain hose that runs from the bottom of the wash tub to the inlet side of the drain pump for obstructions as well. I have found wash cloths stuck in this hose that prevented the tub from draining. For future reference, use garment bags for washing small items. This will prevent some of the problems from reoccuring.

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.
