I am having a problem with Office Outlook 2007 - keeps asking me to give my password, but then asks again, and again.....and fouls things up, so I would like to have talktalk as my default email, as that is what I use anyway. I am having to use webmail at the moment.
Which operating system ??
The Windows XP operating system can be used to send email through various programs. Microsoft Outlook serves as the default email program in Windows XP. To change this default email program, you must have a secondary email client installed on your system. By using the system's "Control Panel" interface, you can select a different default email handler. Any email links you click on while surfing the Internet will be opened with your default email client.
Click on the "Start" button on the Windows XP task bar. Select the "Control Panel" button on the right-hand side of the menu. Open the "Add or Remove Programs" window by double-clicking on the icon. Click on the "Set Program Access and Defaults" button on the left-hand side of the window. This button should be located closest to the bottom of the window. Click on the button located to the left of the "Custom" selection to highlight this selection. Click on the icon to the right with two arrows pointing downwards to view the options for the "Custom" configuration. Click on the button next to the program you wish to set as your default email client in the "Choose a default email program" section. Click the "OK" button to save the changes to XP's default email program.

The key on the back of your laptop is for Windows. You should have received a DVD type case with the Microsoft Office Installation disk inside. The keys are on that case. If the laptop didn't come with the installation disk for Microsoft Office, you will have to buy a new one from a store or order a new one online.

If you normally use POP3 to access your TalkTalk e-mail and haven't used Webmail for a while you may find that you can no longer log in. I have seen just a few isolated cases of this.
I'm not sure why but to fix it log into www.talktalk.net and access the Broadband Dashboard which is located on the left hand side under Broadband / Manage Broadband Features. Choose
Webmail should now be working again.

If it's a laptop, there is no default password. BIOS passwords are used to prevent access to someone's data when their laptop is stolen. Wouldn't make much sense to have a generic default password available to the general public, now would it?
Why can't you do a reinstall while Windows? Just insert the CD while Windows is running and you should get a repair/upgrade/new install option.
As a last resort, install a version of Linux on a spare harddrive and install it into the laptop. Then run Windows upgrade disk.
