A stock pot is just a normal pot, straight sides, flat bottom, the classic pot in your house. That pot with two handles and a lid. It's called this becuase it was used to make stock. Stock is usually used as a base in cooking in recipes such as soup.

Where can i buy extra pot for ge 3 combo crockpot

In the manufacturing world most times they don't bother trying to stock parts like that. You just have to buy another used or new unit or buy another model

Does a stock pot need a flat lid?

A flat lid is necessary for controlling evaporation. You can half cover the pot while the liquid is simmering. This doesnt work so well with a domed lid.

What is the most important thing to consider when choosing a stock pot?

I think the most important thing is the bottom of the pot. When you cook, you do not want the bottom of the soup to get burnt! Even if your pot is the perfect size and shape, if your soup burns, the pot is still no good. You have to make sure the bottom is made of a good material and it is thick and heavy.

Do you stock the handle for the lid of a Rival SCVP609

Here are two sites that stock some Rival replacement parts. I don't believe either shows the handle you are looking for but I suggest you make an inquiry directly with them to see if they are able to supply.

http://www.marbeck.com/crock_parts_rival.html

or

http://www.crock-pot.com/CustomerService.aspx?id=rpt&step=5&prid=379

You may wish to save these sites for future reference.

Looking for a sonteware liner for my Rival Smart Pot Model # scvp609 . Mine cracked.

Rival replacement parts are sold through crock-pot.com. They show 3 different versions of cooker with your model number, so pick the one you have. Each has a different stoneware, and two of them are out of stock. Hopefully you have the model for which the replacement is in stock. If not, they have a contact link so you can get more information from them.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya!

Replacement part

At Crockpots.com I located a phone number 800 323 9519. I was told they are currently out of stock but it is an item they carry. Their response "no replacement parts available" means out of stock. They suggested calling back in 2-3 weeks.
