When trying to record, no matter what blank DVD recordable disc install, after 10 minutes or so, I get an error message saying "Copy Protected Signal." And the recording stops.

DVD with copyright protection will not allow you to copy or remove or do any changes to the DVD by yourself. As the key factors that prevents you from copying DVDs is the DVD copy protection

You can use Leawo Blu-ray Copy to remove the copy protection. You can also check on this post:

"Copy Protected Signal." Means that the data you are trying to Ahem... "Copy" probably has copy protection inbuilt into the disk & data. This is done to stop copying of pirate DVD's etc. Part of the DRM put out by the TV/Music/Film industry. There are programs that can strip protection and enable one to copy said DVD's.. AnyDVD is one that springs to mind, as does Dameon Tools, and many others simply Google for them.

What kind of blank DVDs do I use to copy an old VHS video tape to the DVD? I have the Sony RDR-VX530. When I put a DVD in, I get an Error message saying that I have the wrong DVD.

According to page 30 of the operation manual, the following information may help;

DISCS THAT CAN BE USED IN THIS RECORDER:

4x-speed or slower DVD+RWs
2x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.1, 1.1 with CPRM) (Content Protection for Recordable Media)
4x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.2, 1.2 with CPRM)
16x-speed or slower DVD+Rs
16x-speed or slower DVD-Rs (version 2.0, 2.0 with CPRM, version 2.1, 2.1 with CPRM)
2.4x-speed DVD+R DL (dual layer) discs
(when using DVD+R DL discs, see the instructions supplied with them prior to use)
4x-speed or slower DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs

DISCS THAT CANNOT BE RECORDED ON:

DVD-RWs (version 1.0)
DVD+RWs that are not 2.4x-speed compatible
8 cm discs (mini-DVDs)
DVD-RAM (any speed/any version)
DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs in VR mode

A free pdf copy of the manual for this model can be downloaded online.

Hopefully that provides some insight to your question.

I have a toshiba dvd recorder ( DKR40) and I get a recording error of " Disk not CPRM comp" E-28. what does this mean?

It means that the disk in question doesn't support CPRM- (an encryption system for copy protection - embedded in the source signal that you try to record . CPRM recordings can only be made on DVD-RW discs in VR mode, and can only be played on CPRM-compatible players.

My DVD recorder doesn;t record. When I go to replay there is nothing on the Recorded list. (The message PSO is showing on the front of the recorder. Is this coneected?)

Ok recording is impossible.
1.this unit may not record programs that contain copy protection signal.
2.Check that there is nothing on the disc to start off with.
3.check that the disc is CPRM compatible.copy onc programmes can only be copied onto the disc which is CPRM compatible.
4.check if the the disc is protected or finalised.Undo the protection or the finalisation.
5.DVD-RW usually once formatted in another unit cannot be recorded in your unit unless formatted.
6.Check all connections are properly made.

Won't record on blank disc.

Bulk disc that comes in cylinder case are some time faulty and loses quality because they packed on each other. The lens of the disc are sensitive so if disc is scratch or dirty will get error message "no read". Turn the unit off then unplug ac power cord for more than two minutes then reconnect and try disc again, if issue still exist purchase disc that comes in individual case.

Screen says cant record copy protected movie

Is this a new problem or has it always been like this? The unit will throw that error message if there's a copy protection flag on the broadcast source.

To make matters worse, there are three flags a broadcaster can set. Copy Always, Copy Once, and Copy Never.

Copy Always and Copy Never are pretty self-explanatory but the Copy Once flag with this unit only works with certain media, namely DVD-RAM and DVD-RW in VR mode with CPRM (Content Protection for Recordable Media.

Copy Always flag should work with all media. I don't know of any easy way to figure out which broadcasts have which flag but try changing your media and recording mode first.

P.S. You may also want to reset to factory default settings by pressing FF and RW together on the player. Also make sure you're running the latest firmware.

Good Luck!

Errors burning to 1x to 16x DVD-R

I have had much luck recording on off brand 16X discs as follows:

1) Record a "dummy" program on the hard drive, need only about 15 or 20 seconds.

2) Put a blank disk in drive, and COPY that dummy program to disk. Do not finalize.

3) After a minute or so, window will come up and say "Cannot
complete copy."

4) Now while above window on screen, click HOME MENU, COPY, New program list, Select your movie/program to copy, go ahead and finalize, and START.

5) Think you'll find this is successful, however there might be some brands of blank disks that won't work.

6)Let me know if it works for ya. [email protected]
