Need to reformat your ipod - don't disconnect the ipod until you hit eject - ever you should be able to use it again try a different cord and reformat then have fun cause you get to reload all the music unless you were able to save your iTunes library

Well it worked well enough to be able to get it to read it in itunes but itunes cant sync it up now

Do you have a wall plug? If not try this turn off your computer or laptop whichever has your itunes on it - plug the laptop into the wall if it isn't already and then plug in your ipod - let it completely charge the ipod (do it overnight so you don't mess with it) - once charged power up the laptop or computer and see if the ipod tell you it is okay to disconnect - disconnect and check the ipod - then check it on the computer or laptop if that doesn't work you're gonna have to wipe it - SORRY just thought about this method it worked once on a 3rd generation 8gb.

My ipod touch 4th generation says -ipod is disabled connect to itunes- tried that and itunes wouldnt open unless unlocked my ipod and i cant. I tried restoring it and itunes said ipod can not be restored...

"iPod is disabled - Connect to iTunes" . This is because someone(or something?) has tried to crack your password too many times, which causes Iphone/Ipod to automatically disable itself to protect your data.

To restore your iPod, you must connect your iPod to iTunes with your iPod connector table. Make sure it is on and has this message when you connect it to your computer. Once connected, iTunes should detect it as usual.

Once connected, make sure you have all the proper sync settings enabled - for example, applications, music, photos, etc. Change something so that the Sync button in the bottom right appears in the iTunes window. Then sync the data.

When syncing is finished, turn on your iPod / iPhone and you should notice that the message is gone. Type in your password and the disabled message should be gone.

If the message is still there, try holding the sleep and home button at the same time until the iPod turns off, then continue holding the sleep and home button until a screen with the iTunes logo and a picture of the connector cable appears. This will put your iPod in Restore mode. With this option, you must click the Restore button in iTunes, which will delete all your data on the iPod.

My itouch will not sync with itunes anymore. a window pops up and says I need to enable my computer to sync and I don't know what to do

Syncing music manually If you prefer not to automatically sync music content to your iPod, you can set up manual syncing.
  1. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
  2. Select iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window. ht1351_7.jpg
  3. In the main iTunes browser window, select the Summary tab.
  4. Select the option to "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music." This will deselect the automatic sync settings for the Music, Movies, and TV Shows tabs. Automatic syncing for Podcasts, Photos, Contacts, and Games can be individually disabled by selecting those options in each of those tabs. Note: When manually managing iPod, disk use is enabled and iPod must always be manually ejected in iTunes before disconnecting it from your computer. ht1351_8.jpg
  5. Click Apply.
  6. To manually add music, audiobooks, movies or TV shows to your iPod, choose one of these categories under Library on the top-left of the iTunes window.
  7. Select and drag items you want (to choose multiple items, Command-click items on a Mac or Control-click items in Windows), then drag them onto your iPod icon under Devices.
  8. To add a playlist, select it from the left side of the iTunes window and drag it onto your iPod in the same way. ht1351_9.jpg
  9. When you are ready to disconnect your iPod, select it under Devices and click the eject icon next to it.

IPod recognized by iTunes for about three seconds.

Use the Five Rs to restore the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Apple iPod Video 30 GB

Hi,
iPods always say 'do not disconnect' when you connect it to the computer. That is what they are supposed to do. iTunes should open a short time after that. If i Tunes doesn 't open, then click on it to open it. You should see your iPod on the left side.

I suspect that you are not using iTunes to put music into your iPod. You cannot 'drag' music into your iPod. ITunes has to put it there.

You should have all of your music in your iTunes library that you want to put into your iPod. You have to use iTunes to put music into your iPod. Actually, this is the easiest way.

Once your music is in iTunes, plug your iPod into the computer. When your iPod appears in iTunes on the left side, click on the music tab and tell iTunes what music and play lists you want to put into your iPod.

Then click sync at the bottom. The iPod will go into sync mode until all of your music is loaded. Then it will say sync completed. You can then click the arrow next to your iPod to release it from iTunes.

When you want to release it from your computer, click on the little green icon at the bottom right of your computer screen. If you don't see it, click the white arrow. Click on the green plug icon and wait until you see safely isconnect mass storage device from the computer. Click on that and wait until you see, 'It is now safe to disconnect your mass storage device from the computer". Disconnect your iPod now.

Hope that helps.
