Asus n50vc won't install windows 7 from USB device

I'm running XP professional trying to install windows 7 Home 64bit from a USB flash drive. Have used windows 7 USB DVD Download tool as instructed by microsoft to load my downloaded ISO file to the flash drive, however, when I insert the USB/Turn off the computer/then restart, it won't load/recognise the USB, it just loads XP Professional as usual. I've followed all Microsofts instructions but no joy!

Bootable USB guide, here we assume that you are using either Vista or Windows 7 to create a bootable USB.

1. Insert your USB (4GB+ preferable) stick to the system and backup all the data from the USB as we are going to format the USB to make it as bootable.

2. Open elevated Command Prompt. To do this, type in CMD in Start menu search field and hit Ctrl + Shift + Enter. Alternatively, navigate to Start > All programs >Accessories > right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator.

3. When the Command Prompt opens, enter the following command:
DISKPART and hit enter.
LIST DISK and hit enter.

Once you enter the LIST DISK command, it will show the disk number of your USB drive. In the below image my USB drive disk no is Disk 1.

4. In this step you need to enter all the below commands one by one and hit enter. As these commands are self explanatory, you can easily guess what these commands do.

SELECT DISK 1 (Replace DISK 1 with your disk number)
CLEAN
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT FS=NTFS
(Format process may take few seconds)
ASSIGN
EXIT

Don't close the command prompt as we need to execute one more command at the next step. Just minimize it.

5. Insert your Windows DVD in the optical drive and note down the drive letter of the optical drive and USB media. Here I use "D" as my optical (DVD) drive letter and "H" as my USB drive letter.

6. Go back to command prompt and execute the following commands:
D:CD BOOT and hit enter. Where "D" is your DVD drive letter.
CD BOOT and hit enter to see the below message.
BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H:
(Where "H" is your USB drive letter)

7. Copy Windows DVD contents to USB.
You are done with your bootable USB. You can now use this bootable USB as bootable DVD on any computer that comes with USB boot feature (most of the current motherboards support this feature).

Note that this bootable USB guide will not work if you are trying to make a bootable USB on XP computer.

Create a copy of your Windows 7 ISO file on removable media During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or the F2 key

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the using arrow key scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to usb, press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

W 7 First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: Click "Start" button, type devmgmt.msc (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter. Click Continue if necessary. In Device Manager, double click to expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, right click on the Host Controller, click Uninstall and click OK. Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under Universal Serial Bus controllers. Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

SOURCE: Program to find lost administrator password for USB flashdrive

Have You Lost Your Windows Admin Password?

Forgetting your Windows administrator login password. With no way to get into the system, you can’t even perform basic maintenance, let alone a thorough tune-up. Formatting is always an option, but we consider that a last resort. (Plus, guess who’s going to have to help reinstall all the programs lost after a wipe?) But all hope is not lost. There are a few ways to actually retrieve a lost Windows account password. Read on, and we’ll show you the light.

1st Method:
The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press <ctrl>+<alt>+<del> keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

2th Method:
There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but we’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
Windows Password Recovery Tool is one of the easiest password recovery tools to use. It allows you to reset a user account password, including the Administrator password. It is also a relatively small download.

SOURCE: ASUS eeePC 900 Keeps rebooting at XP load screen.

You're computer is booting that's not your problem. Its just not booting into Windows which is a different subject, so a boot disk will not do you any good. You have some corrupted files at the Windows end not the start up end. The only way to correct the Windows corrupt files is to use a Windows disc. So you'll have to buy/borrow a portable DVD/CD player and a copy of windows. Once the Windows disc loads then its just a matter of clicking on "repair" when the disc asks..that one of the drawbacks of netbooks..If you have any questions let me know..

SOURCE: VGA Driver Not Found for Asus X95GL WinXP 2002 Pro SP2

I think perhaps that should be X59GL.

The GL suffix suggests that the graphics chip is made by nVidia.

Please try downloading the GeForce for Notebooks driver for your relevant Operating System. You did not mention whether you run Windows XP, Windows Vista, or whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit - you need to know this.

If you check the System Properties in Control Panel, you should find this information.

Here is the driver download page:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html

I hope this solves your issue.

Hi, I have an ASUS K52je and my built in webcam is upside. I'm running windows 7 64bit. How can I fix this??

It appears this has become an issue with people with the Asus laptop webcams with Windows 7.

Windows 7 operating system goes out and gets drivers for components that are detected.

From what I can find, you can try to uninstall the device and go to the Asus web site below to install Asus driver for your webcam. Most who have this same problem have found this to be the fix.

One day, I uninstalled USB Mass Storage Device along with a bunch of other ones (eg. USB Root Hub & some other ones) The USB Root Hubs and the other ones re-installed but the USB Mass Storage Device...

The hubs were most likely the USB hardware that is a part of your computer, but the USB Mass Storage Device is a part of some hardware that you had plugged in at some point (maybe a USB flash drive, maybe a USB external drive). In order to reinstall the Mass Storage Device, you have to plug that hardware back in and let it reinstall. If you aren't aware already, sometimes you plug in one device, but it installs as more than one device (it's actually supposed to). So you won't always have a one-to-one ration of hardware and installed devices, since some of them show up as more than one device. And typically, when plug a new device in for the first time, the computer can only see one device, then it instals that one device, and only then can it see the other (virtual) devices, which it then installs. The next time you plug that device in, it sees & activates all of the devices instantly & silently (not counting the little "plug in" sound it makes).

I have installed HP 1220c printer on windows 7 in several ways. Printer seems istalled OK, when I try to print test page or other, the printer doesn't react. Although the print appears and dissapears...

Unistall any previous you have installed for your device.

The Driver for Your Product Is Included in the Windows 7 Operating System (i.e. Win 7-32bit & 64bit).
Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product.

Hope it helps.

Will not scan or copy windows7 64 bit

If the machine won't make a copy (by hitting the copy button on the front panel) it may be a hardware issue.

If it will copy, but not scan - it's likely software related, as many devices have issues with the 64bit version of Windows 7 (and XP for that matter).

You may try installing the 64bit versions of the drivers and software. I've included the link below...

What is the procedure to install a 32-bit softwares in to my laptop(windows 7,home premium,64-bit) ?

Most programs designed for the 32-bit version of Windows will work on the 64-bit version of Windows. Notable exceptions are many antivirus programs.
Device drivers designed for 32-bit versions of Windows won't work on computers running a 64-bit version of Windows. If you're trying to install a printer or other device that only has 32-bit drivers available, it won't work correctly on a 64-bit version of Windows.

Windows 7 64bit does run programs that will run on windows 7 32bit, see here

How Windows 7 / Vista 64 Support 32 bit Applications

BUT not ALL 32bit programs will run on Windows 7!!! There are many programs that will run on Windows XP and before that will not run on Windows 7. IF you had Windows 7 Pro version (or upgrade) there is a program you can download from Microsoft that will simulate an XP environment to allow programs to run called "XP MODE".
Try to install the 32bit software first. If installation not succeed, it would be better if you first look into a newer version of the program you want to run.You have to consider that a newer version of your program might not be that much more expensive than upgrading to pro, and with the newer version, usually comes newer features.

Hope this help and if helpful RATE please.

I have window 7 64bit and the keyspan software installed fine but the server utility does not recognize the print server. I allowed port 3842 tcp and udp through the windows firewall but still no luck.

for key span server to work with windows 7 install windows xp mode to windows 7 ( this can be downloaded from microsoft website if you have windows 7 pro and above. if you have windows 7 home then install windows virtual pc, start it up and insert a windows xp pro install disk. for info on this google 'workaround to install windows xp mode in windows 7 home premium and home basic') Once you have windows xp mode running, install the keyspan server utility int he virtual machine and setup as usuall. then share the printer. go to windows 7 devices and printers and add a printer, chose a network printer, select the new virtual machine and select the shared printer. In order for the printer to work just start up the keyspan program from windows 7 and print....your welcome.
