I am trying to connect my xbox 360 to my computer, which is running Vista. My computer recognizes the 360, but asks for a driver for the 360. My 360 on the other hand will not detect my computer at all. I have done searches all over the place and nothing is helping. Any advice?

My son had the same problem with his xbox 360 and xbox 360 support told me that the prior owner did something illegal and the console has been banned permanently.
We are trying to get xbox 360 support to remove the code.

SOURCE: Help Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver For Windows, help help
Hello my name is Tim Ehrhart, If the reciever is not lighting up then it is dead, you can try to take it to walmart and exchange it for a working one, they are usualy good at swapping out and if they give you a hard time buy a new one and return it with the old reciever instead of the new one. I hope this helps you.
SOURCE: Can't stream media through xbox 360 using WMP11
I had the same problem in Windows XP and I just created a workgroup to share files on the network. Follow these steps if anyone is still having this problem. My gf has vista and must do it automatically but it's just a matter of remembering to establish a workgroup.
To summarize:
- Enable sharing on WMP 11 --> This should adjust windows firewall automatically but be sure to unblock ports for other firewalls, if need be.
- Create a workgroup --> Start...Control Panel....Network setup wizard.
Follow the steps, if you're connectnig through a router, select "this computer connects through a residentail gateway", apply this to any other computers that want to share files on this network, if necessary.
Restart computer to let the workgroup settings take effect and voila...your computer will now be detected.
