Copper is a good metal for flashing because it is strong, malleable, and durable, but really any flat sheet of metal will do the trick

Aluminum would last the longest being it doesn't rust out like metal.

Sheet lead is most preferred by roof tilers as it has proven to be long lasting, cost effective and readily available. I am interested to know what sort of roof you are putting down as there are different options for different types of roofs..

I have found that if you aren't sure about something it pays to give a call to one of the companies that manufacture the flashings, they will be able to answer just about any question that you have. Not all roofing suppliers are manufacturers, these guys definetely are and make similar products to the Colorbond, and Lysaght products.

Copper is a great metal for roofing and to make gutters with. I have never seen anything so strong and long lasting. The uniquely convenient advantage that copper has is its flexibility. You can bend copper easier than most metals I've seen. Although it can bend, it's still a durable metal that can stand all forms of weather. http://www.kfcroofing.com.au/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=24

Metal vs. asphalt shingles for residential roofing: which is better and why?

It depends on a variety of factors, including cost, longevity, style, and local climate. Metal is the most durable roofing material, but it can be quite expensive and is not suitable for certain architectural styles. Asphalt shingles are much more economical and typically last 20-30 years, depending on the climate and other external factors. In some climates, asphalt is still the preferred choice because it is better at resisting damage caused by extreme cold or snow. Ultimately, the best option will depend on personal preference and budget.

Need class a chimney flashing for penetration through standing seam metal (steel) roof. What flashing is best to avoid corrosion problems due to disimiar metals in contact? Also, how is the flashing...

Hello Stephen.
I do understand what you are talking about with your flashing. Your supplier of the standing seam metal should have similar metal flashing to use on any of your roof flashing points. There is a process to install flashing on a chimney or any other protrusions, If you are still interested post some pictures of what you have and I will explain the best I can. It takes years of experience to do some flashings especially on standing seam metal.

What is best Sirius antenna placement on C5 Corvette?

You could actually bury the antenna in the roof header if the roof is all fiberglass, as it won't block the signal as much as a metal roof will. You could leave a piece of sheet metal stuck to the magnet antenna, but I would bury it INSIDE the car with a chunk of metal under it. Should work pretty decet that way, especially if your city has terrestrial repeaters.
