It could be two things, several rows of non performing pixels, or one of the boards has gone out in the television, i would recomend unplugging it for five minutes and plugging it back in to see if it continues, bring up the menu and see if the black line cuts through that as well as another source, if that all fails call toshiba and see if its under warranty, either have them repair it or return it to the store

There is a vertical line of dead pixels on the right side of the screen.

If the line travels from the top of the screen to the bottom, try disconnecting the Tcon LVDS lead. The Tcon is located in the top middle of the LCD rear. Disconnect the LVDS from the Tcon by pushing in the outer lobes. Clean the contacts on the LVDs lead and reinsert. If this doesnt cure the fault, disconnect the ribbons from the Tcon connecting the LCD and clean and reinsert. If this doesnt cure the fault you have a faulty LCD.
If the vertical line doesnt travel from top to bottom of the LCD, the LCD is faulty (LCD matrix buffer).Hope this helps :)

Toshiba LCD 37" with gray band and blue line

Unfortunately you are right it is the display panel going bad. You can either live with it or buy you a new tv as the panels usually cost as much or more than the tv. Sorry.

Vertical Black line 3 inch width on Plasma Samsung 42C96HD after 2 months of use

On al the plasma tvs there are control boards on the lower part of the screen that control the vertical images. If one of the chips on one of the boards fail, have a bad connection, or no ground it will result in a thick black lne down the screen. Seeing as the tv is new I would get the warrantee repair on it. There is a possibility that there is a problem with the screen itself but more than likely its the boards.
