Belkin router is working with desk top computer. add laptop

Had to format a laptop computer. It was installed along side the desk top computer as a wireless set up with the Belkin N1. All working well. My question is - The reinstalled Windows Vista will ask for a code to be entered when I open Explorer to connect to the net. Now I dont know how to connect here at this home address as I have to add this laptop back to my Belkin system. Do I use the numbers printed on the modem? or do I use one of the two nubers on the Belkin router? probably the WAN MAC address as I have cable. please help. Thanh you. Berry.

It's asking for the security word that you entered into the router when you set up wireless security. You will need to enter both the wireless SSID, and the security key to make the system work.

Wireless not working

To reset the Belkin back to the default settings -
Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router and then power for at least 15 secs. Then release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. We have a new desk top and now our laptop wont connect with internet...we have a belkin router that worked fine before

You will need to check the wireless settings of the router is there any computer connected to the router ? If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer. Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.

Trying a add another desk top to an existing Belkin wireless G router at home. Right now there's a desk top and laptop working off this router.Try several times and still can't connect to internet.

Make sure the Belkin wireless is the only device directly connecting to your internet service provider's router/modem. Usually that port is labelled "WAN" or even "Internet". The Belkin should have extra ports/jacks for WIRED connections, right? You then connect the PC into the other remaining ports/jacks on the Belkin (if they're wired) or just use the wireless for the laptop if the laptop has wireless. After getting the wireless going, though, you should lock it down by using WPA encryption key if possible.

I HAVE BELKIN I TRYING TO CONECT SECOND DESK TOP TO IT ,ICAN IT TO WORK

If you router is already set up and you want to add a new computer, you don't need to run the set up CD for the router again.
If you are adding a desktop or any other device to the router which will always be connected to the router with the Ethernet cable, then in this case you don't need to do anything.
You can just connect the Ethernet cable between the router and the computer and it should work.
If you are not able to go online even when it is connected properly then check IP address of the computer.

Constant disconnect on both laptop and desk top

  • If you bypass the router and connects your computer directly to the your DSL modem, do you have a stable Internet connection in your computer?
  • If you do, you may reset and reconfigure your Belkin router.
  • You may also do a firmware upgrade on your router.

Hope this helps!

It is not a router configuration problem its a laptop problem in the configuration. Do you have the network card installed if so try a reinstall. if not go to your network wizard and set it back up .
