VCR Calendar Out of Date

I have a Quasar VCR vh6403 that I bought April of 1990. It works great and I have no reason to replace it. My problem is the calendar is only programmed through 2008. As of Jan 1 2009 it reverted to the Jan 1 1989 calendar. I can not set the timed recording because it does not recognize the current year and date.

I have lost part of it's fuction and want to either know how to reprogram it for a current calendar sequence or have the manufacture replace or give me a discount to buy a new one. It is their fault it no longer has the function and I consider them responsible.

I suspect they figured the unit would either break or not be kept this long, so programmed it this way.

Any ideas for my problem.

Thanks,
Dianna

Program the VCR as if it were 1998. The day date sequence is the same as 2009 (and not a leap year).

This should solve the problem

What Is Estimated Tax Payment Calendar?

For Government Income Tax reasons, estimated tax payments are due as listed below:

    ·April 15 (first quarter)
    ·June 15 (second quarter)
    ·September 15 (third quarter)
    ·January 15 (4th quarter)
Note that the January 15 quarterly payment is really due, not within the tax year itself, but early the year after (before your taxes returns). Note that when the date falls on the weekend or holiday it might be extended to another working day.

I have a Quasar VH6200 VCR. Can it be connected to a new TV and be able to record TV programs. I have connected it but it won't record. What can I do?

I have the same machine and the same problem as you do. Apparently, because this model has a hardwired, built in calendar, it experiences a "Y2K"-like problem and will not record (even manually!) when you either try to program a date that is more recent than 2008, or the machine's present date "hits the wall." The solution is to program a year that is identical to the current year. Example: day and date-wise, 2014 is identical to 1997. So entering the correct month and day, but using 1997 for the year entry will allow normal operation with correct day/date timer operation and the stupid CPU will be none the wiser. As for using this machine with modern HDTVs, there should be no problem as long as the TV has standard analog A/V jacks. For recording the machine would need a source of standard-def video, either basic cable TV or a digital converter box if using over the air signals. BTW, 1998 is a match for 2015, so the above solution will be good for two years. After that, just look up a leap within 1990 to 2008 year that matches 2016.

Can't get digital converter box to work with Toshiba TV/VCR Combo

You will need to rescan your stations. On the June cutoff date, they reshuffled and renumbered most of the stations.

Connecting older model quasar to dvd/vcr player (magnavox)

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, the only reason you would need/use a modulator is when the DVD/VCR has no RF OUT and the Quasar TV has no Audio/Video IN. If this were the case, then connections would be:
  • yellow Video Out of DVD/VCD to yellow Video IN of modulator;
  • red/white Audio Out of DVD/VCR to red/white Audio In of modulator;

  • modulator RF Out to RF/ANT/CABLE IN of the Quasar;
  • TV has to be set to either Channel 3 or 4;
  • if Modulator has no RF OUT but instead has a small antenna, still the TV has to be set to either Channel 3 or 4.
If however, the DVD/VCR has an RF OUT, then a coaxial patch cord from this could be connected to the RF/ANT/CABLE IN of the Quasar. The TV has to be set to either Channel 3 or 4. There would be no need for the modulator.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Sony VCR date only goes up 2006

I have 2 SLV-696HF units that won't work after 2007. I have had people tell me that I'll have to "find" a previous calendar that will work, since there are only 14 different calendars in our Gregorian system, 7 for non-leap years & 7 for leap years. The problem we have with this, is that the internal VCR calendar won't roll BACK far enough. I wonder if SONY has a way of flashing these units to fix this problem?
