Key hard to turn

To fix the tumblers, find a trusted locksmith. That's the way I'd go. Honda does have a kit, but, it's not a consumer one. You'd spend a decent amount of money on a kit that would fix hundreds of cars, so, that's why they won't sell it to you.

As for the key fob, have you tried putting a new battery in it? Your description is not very clear. The LX should have come from the factory with a key fob. So, if you got one, make sure it's the correct one with a good battery. To program it, put your key in the igntion, turn the key to position 2 (the position right before you start the car), press a button on the key fob, turn the key back to position 0, Repeat these steps over and over (about 4 to 5 times) until the doors lock/unlock. If that doesn't work, you could have a bum transmitter.

If some doors are not lock/unlocking, chances are bad doorlock acuators.

If the key turns but does not unlock the door then it is a linkage problem between the lock tumbler and door lock mechanism. If the key does not turn at all, then it will most likely be a problem with the mechanism. Sadly both of these will require removal of the door panel. If you dont feel comfortable with this then take to a reputable shop

i've had this same issue. while you have your key in the drivers side door, with it turned to the unlock position...rapidly lift on handle up and down. after about 10-15 times the door will unlock

There is a good possibilty that the key tumbler mechanism "rod" has become disconnected to the door control mechanism. These rod connections are plastic and will break. Also if someone is trying to unlock the door while someone is trying to open the door either from the inside or outside; this could cause this link to break. If someone tried to "jimmy" the lock using a slim-jim they could have caused a disconnection or breakage.
The last of my theories is the locking tumbler could have become loose because of a tumbler spring lock clip that may be broke or malfunctioning. This keeps the tumbler in place while turning the key. If the key continues to turn more than it should or is very loose this could be the problem. However this is rare.
You will have to take the inner door panel off to gain access. Check visually to see if this rod from the key tumbler to the door mechanism is loose on top where it is connected to the key tumbler OR on the bottom of the rod where the rod connects with the door control mechanism.
The "L" part of the rod pushes into the hole of the plastic clip and normally there is an rotating arm clip lock that flips over onto the rod and locks onto the rod, holding the rod in place. If the clip has broken it should be replaced (available to auto part stores).

You didn't say if the key allows you to lock/unlock the passanger side door. If not, then your key is going bad. Otherwise, you need to replace the door lock tumbler. This is not to difficult, but takes about 2 - 3 hours to remove the inside panel and doorhandle assembly. Take pictures as you go to remember how to reinstall everything. You have a couple of options: 1. you can swap out the tumbler from the passanger side if it works, 2. you can replace the tumbler with a new one, or 3. you can replace the entire handle with a used one that has a key. With the amout of work into getting to the tumbler, my vote is for a new tumbler and key.

Sounds like maybe the linkage came undone. You can take off the door panel and inspect it, you'll notice right away whether the linkage came undone or if the tumbler is bad.

Roll down the window first, and if you have a handle for your window, put a flat screwdriver between the panel and the handle and gently pry it away from the door panel. If you look behind the handle, you will see a clip that needs to come off to get the handle off. Push it off with a screw driver (This can be a task!)now, put a screw driver in between the panel and the door and pry. Don't pull too hard, and any screws that you find going along the panel or in the panel (check the interior handle and arm rest) need to come out. The door will make a popping noise when you pry it, which is normal. There are spreader clips on the panels which keep it "suctioned" to the door, you're just pulling the clips out of the door. Work from the bottom to the top. When the panel is completely loose, lift the panel up at an angle. The panel "hangs" on the top lip of the door. When you put it back together, hang the panel on the top lip, line up the clips and gently "pop" it back into place, then put the screws back in.

You can take the door handle off the drivers side and replace the tumblers in the key slot or just remove the tumbler pieces and then any key will turn in the lock. What really matters is that you have to center the door latch lock piece with a lock or a flat screw driver.the line up should be straight up and down in side the door you can see it when you get the door handle off.

easiest way to handle this problem is as you turn the key turn the steering wheel back and forth not real hard bust firm and try and turn the key foward and back at the same time. usually what happens is the little detente inside the column gets stuck just right and stops the tumbler from moving

the door lock actuator is defective, they get really hard to move when they go bad, that is why the difficulty with the key.
