Soundcard problems I have a powermac g4, running osx 10.3.9, I am having problems with sound... when using logic express 7 and reason, after playing for awhile the sound quality cracks up, crackles, getting worse and worse until I quit the programs. I use M-audio soundcards, have had an audiophile 2496 for awhile which worked ok and recently added a delta 66 (so both installed at once), using delta driver 2.0.3. on multicard setting. any clues as to how to sort this out appreciated. also an intermittent problem I have is sometimes there is the last sound repeating making a loud noise when paused.

I'd say to look at latency settings and sample rates. also disable screen savers and power management.

I would run Linux on it . Linux is growing leaps and bounds over Microsoft. Apple I believe just stole everything from Linux so in a sense it will feel sort of like a mac. The way it should of been done the first time. Here is a decent write up no sense me wasting energy on it.. go check out this http://superuser.com/questions/88779/how-to-make-a-powermac-g4-run-linux

Powermac screen developed fine black grid and won't operate properly

Isolate the problem to see if it's the screen or video card by connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without a problem then your original screen is bad and your video card is good. If the Borrowed monitor displays the same problems as your original then your video card inside the computer is bad.

It is possible you have a power supply failure. My MDD was doing the same thing unless I reset the PMU. There is a tutorial here on checking the PS - D275729F-09DA-4FBB-96B3-BEEEB2C04619.html It for a MDD, but I would think it would be useful for your situation.
Do you have an Intuos tablet connected? The drivers for that might be causing the problem and should be updated to the newest driver available

Try downloading this and using your Camera. As I understand it, there is no official support for this camera for Mac. This may work, assuming your using OSX.

PowerMac G5 fan keeps running -- LOUDLY

I had the same problem... It is the logic board... You need to get it replaced. One way you could try to fix it by resetting the board there should be a little black dot behind the front two fans when you open it up. Press and hold for a few seconds... this resets the board to factory settings. The other way is replace the internal battery. and the third is to replace the logic board. $150-200

Computer help

The only way to solve this is to either get hold of an OSX disc, (you can find them on ebay) or, borrow one from a friend and use the reset password utility that is on the disc.
