I have a HP Pavilion Slimline running Windows 7. I had to replace the motherboard with ASUS F2A55 - MLK. Now I get a 'Configuration Error' when I boot-up.

HI,

You cannot just replace the motherboard and then install the same Hard Drive and expect it to work. It CAN work, but you have to prep your Hard Drive before you switch motherboards.

Your Operating System, if already installed on your Hard Drive, is configured/locked to your old motherboard. You would have to run SYSPREP or some other software on your COMPLETE system before switching out your motherboard, to UNBIND all the hardware and drivers already installed in your Operating System. This would make it ready to be installed in a new computer system... which yours is with a motherboard change.

The only option that I am aware of is to completely reinstall your Operating System from scratch... however, if your old motherboard is still functional, you might be able to put your old system back together and then run the appropriate software (search online), which could save you some time.

Replaced motherboard &hard drive in hp pavilion, now it will not recognize reovery cd

By replacing the Hard drive you have removed the recovery partition with the operating system on it.
Did you make a backup of the Operating system to a set of CD's or just the Data?
If it was just the data you need a new operating system through HP Tech Support. The instructions are here

Can I use any SATA hard drive to replace the HP Hewlett Packard Pavilion Slimline S3300F Desktop SATA? Thank you Albert

Hello,
Yes, in fact you will most likely be able to get an upgrade as most HPs have a 5400 RPM hard drive and you can find great 7200rpm SATA hard drives.

There are also 10000rpm drives available but at this point they aren't worth the price in my professional opinion.

Good luck.

Change HP Pavilion Slimline s7520n Video Card?

The on-board RadeonXpress 200M graphics is a dog. It offloads a lot of work to your cpu, and shares system memory which ties up the bus and detracts from the memory available to the OS.

The s7520 suffers from thermal problems due to it's size and poor ventilation. It also has a very limted power supply. Therefore, your choices are also limited. If you could score Radeon X600 or X1300 with 128MB for cheap somewhere it would be a worthwhile upgrade. It does need to be PCI (not PCI-E) and half-height (low profile).
