Have you tried cleaning the lens contacts, both on the back of the lens and in the mount on the camera body?

SOURCE: Error message communication between camera and lens is faulty

Your flex cable to the Iris is broken. Have a look at my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/barry_2718/efs1785mm I have the same symptoms. At 28 or 35mm it make work ok. try Av mode and f8 aperture to see if you get an err01 because the aperture does not move either. Sound like you may have been sold a dead lens I am afraid to say. There are lots of reports about this lens failing after 2 to 3 years of use.

SOURCE: when i try to take

This is a basic fix, but have you removed the lens from the camera body and reattached it all? Check all of the connections while you're in there. Hope this helps =]

So, have you cleaned the contacts as you were advised? You do this by removing the lens and cleaning the contacts on the camera body and on the lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Check that the pins in the camera that connect to the CF card are clean and not bent. You will probably need a good light and a magnifying glass to see into the card slot. If you can see a pin that is bent you could try straigtening it. BEWARE- turn off camera and use a non conducting "stick" ie cocktail or toothpick. Not sure for a Canon but a colleague paid £40 for a new pin assembly for a Nikon with similar problem.
Hope this helps.

I cannot review pictures on my Canon PowerShot A400

Yes, the first thing to try is a new memory card. They do go bad. As for the current card, hang onto it. You still may be able to retrieve the photos once you get back to your computer using retrieval software. See this link.

"lens error" error message

Got to the menu in the camera, click on the lens sixe you wish to use. Then take some pictures, try changing the sizes ans see the diffetrent results.

Also it might be that you did not open the lens cover completely before you take the picture.

Take care

File error

Dear jesusfreak22,
I would try reformatting the memory card and see if that gets rid of the file error message. In the manual for your camera it says that message means that the camera is having a conflict when playing back images processed by a computer or another camera.

Sincerely,
