I have a Canon DS126191 and it shows an error message everytime i try to take a picture. Here is the message: "Communication between camera and lens is faulty. Clean lens contact." Any ideas on how to fix this?

Your flex cable to the Iris is broken. Have a look at my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/barry_2718/efs1785mm I have the same symptoms. At 28 or 35mm it make work ok. try Av mode and f8 aperture to see if you get an err01 because the aperture does not move either. Sound like you may have been sold a dead lens I am afraid to say. There are lots of reports about this lens failing after 2 to 3 years of use.

This is a basic fix, but have you removed the lens from the camera body and reattached it all? Check all of the connections while you're in there. Hope this helps =]

So, have you cleaned the contacts as you were advised? You do this by removing the lens and cleaning the contacts on the camera body and on the lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.
