Memory stick card reader won't read

I have an HP Pavillion with WinXP and a Sony Pro Duo 1Gb memory stick.  When I place the memory stick in the adapter then slide the adapter into the card reader I get no response.  XP does not see a new volume nor does the light come on showing a card is inserted.  I have checked h/w services and card services are 'started'.  Any ideas?

Hi Devika,
Buy a card reader that can read your memory card and connect to the computer. (Less than $8 in Sri Lanka). Connect it to PC and insert the card to the card reader.
Download Recuva and run it. select the memory card. Try to recover the files.
Best of Luck!

Hello Rocketpac ,
Try with another card reader to make sure yours is not defective .
Once done and your memory stick is still unreadable , your data are presumably gone for ever .
Have you tried this recovery program : http://www.digitalleo.com/ ?
Wish you googd luck ,

My computer (HP DV 5200TX) is not reading the memory stick duo. What steps can I try?

I didn't know that HP built computers with card slots that support MS pro duo. Try getting a mini-usb cable, leaving the card in your psp, and plug the PSP into your computer. Make sure you set the PSP to connect using the USB first, though.

Where and how do you put the memory stick pro duo memory card in your computer/laptop?

First check whether your computer have aport for that. Foe ensuring it call the customer care of sony which iwill be a toll free number ask them with mentioning your specific model number.

Or you can just buy one cheap memory card reader which supports sony Memory Stick PRO Duo Memory Card. Its very cheap, i am sure you can afford it. Its good for you as one single card reader will support lots of types of memory cards and sticks.

but if you're trying to read and write to it, you will need a device that can use the pro duo (psp, digital camera). or get an external card reader and connect it to your computer. should work just like plugging in a flash drive.
