Sorry if this is a dup posting my connnection got interrupted. We just got our Panazonic DMR unit about four weeks ago. Our rental disc is stuck in the DVD recorder. We tried "reset", unplugging the unit, turning it off, and giving it a gentle "pat". When we press "eject" we get the "open" message, but the unit won't open. The "reading" message flashes for a short time and then it says "NO DISC."

My portable DVD player shows no disc on the screen when I attempt to play a DVD. When the cover is opened the disc is not spinning like it did when it was working properly. Is this a problem that can be fixed, and if so, how? My player is a Polaroid PDM-0711

  • angelalea Jun 28, 2008

my GE 1106dvd player has never really worked. It was one of two players that i received for xmas so never really tried to figure it out til now. the disc spins at various speeds for a few seconds then it stops and i get a no disc message. It doesn't matter what kind of disc i put in there. none will work. I would really like to fix it but don't want to spend more money to fix then to replace it but it has never been used so would hate to just toss it. It was expensive when it first came out back in 2000.

Is this lens complaint a common thing with this player? Mine got worse and worse and I had to pay LG money to fix it, even though I insisted it was bad news from the start.

Before taking drastic measures as replacinf stuff, try cleaning the lens on the DVD/CD Drive. You will need to open the unit and also open the DVD/CD case. Make sure you do this while the unit is unplugged from a power source. Locate the lens that reads a dvd/cd. Now get a cotton swab and moisten it with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and gently rub the lens clean...use the other dry end of the cotton swab to rub it as well. Try not to use too much alcohol on the swab and not too much force when rubbing. Let it dry for a minute or 2 and screw the unit back into 1 piece. Moisture, cigarette smoke, insence smoke, and dust can cause a barrier between the DVD/CD and the reading lens and by doing this you will either fix the unit or know that it is a problem that will need replacing. Good luck!

Try to very gently clean the laser lens. I would use something like a slightly damp cotton undershirt or t-shirt.

If cleaning the lens doesn't fix it, Look at the ribbon wires (if they're visible) connected to the lens trolley with a magnifier for damage. You've got to be very handy, brave, and have spare parts to fix that.

Subaru Liberty. It won't read CDs the Radio works but when try playing a CD it say 'Error 6'.

Try using a CD Lens Cleaner disc on it, but the link suggests it is a disc transport issue. That would need a Clarion Service Centre. Clarion make it branded as Macintosh.

Put cd in, says it’s reading disc, after10 seconds it says Not Playable, then ejects disc

hi Nancy.
this could be dust on the lens that reads the disc.
Use a disk-based lens cleaner to remove ground in dust or dirt from the CD player's lens. These lens cleaners look like a regular CDs, but have specially-made bushes on the reverse side that gently remove excess dirt from the CD-reading lens. Simply put the CD in your player, and press the "Play" button to clean the lens. Do not run the cleaner more than once, as excess brushing can cause scratches on the lens.
Polish the lens. Use a glass or eyeglass cleaning solution and a lint-free cloth to gently polish the reading lens. Clean it by using a low amount of pressure and softly polishing the lens and its surrounding area using soft, circular motions. Do this for about a minute or two and then allow the player to sit for a few minutes before trying to play a CD.

Tray #1 won't read cd most of the time

Hello
Insert a lens cleanig disc into the device and play it at least three times. If the fault is due to any dirt or dust accumulated on lasser pickup lens, thei will rectify the problem. If this does not help you, the laser pickup lens unit of your device should be replaced with same type and number. The lens cleaning disc can be bought from most of the electronic sparepart shops at your town, and won't cost more. OK.

My front loader reads disc error or unplayable no matter what disc I insert. It worked just fine for about 2 years. It doesn ot get heavy cd use, but everyday radio/alarm use.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:
  • The Wave® music system is designed to play commercial CDs, CD-Rs, MP3-encoded CDS and CD-RWs. If your system has trouble playing MP3 CDs, make sure the discs were recorded with compatible formats. See Cannot play MP3 CDs

  • The system may not be able to play certain CD-RW discs. Playability is dependant on how the disc was recorded, including the format it was recorded in and the actual disc used for recording.
Note: iTunes defaults to AAC as the encoding format. In order to use iTunes to make CDs that will play on the Wave® music system, you’ll need to change the format to MP3 How to Choose Import Options

  • Different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs use different materials which may affect the ability of a player to read them. If you are burning your own CD-Rs or CD-RWs, experiment with different brands of discs

  • If a commercial disc won’t play, check for scratches, fingerprints or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in
