First take all the relays and capacitor off of compressor , then attach black wire with terminal on "C" terminal post usually top terminal, white wire with terminal goes on "S" terminal post on compressor, red wire with terminal goes on "R" terminal post on compressor. then take the two black wires one connects to white neutral wire and the other connects to the black power wire if tis fridge has a condensor fan then you will also need to connect it two the two black wires also thanks hope this helps

Refrigerator and freezer not working

you need to replace the relay but you could also simply get what is called a 3 in one hard start, not only are these better then the relay but will be better for your fridge, this 3 in one unit will replace all 3 electrical parts needd to start the compressor, the installation is so easy even a cave man could do it, i promise,. here is a link http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hard-Start-Kit-Relay-Capacitor-Overload-ERP410-RCO410-HS410-WRX-4-/140821632778?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20c99f970ai hope this helps.

Bad overload relay

The compressor is usually fitted with a thermal overlload switch. It is usually secured to the compressor with some sort of spring mount so it maintains physical contact
The parts guy was probably talking about a hard start kit. They typically are a universal fit, and come with instructions. Be sure to check the electrical supply to the outlet for the fridge. Excessive voltage drop when it tries to start will cause such problems, and will eventually cause damage to the compressor.

Help!i have a maytag refrigerator model #mtb2172hr that stopped getting cold on and off and i hear a buzzing noise on and off around compressor area.the fridge is 5 yrs.old.i hear the motor and fan still...

Sounds like a bad overload relay capacitor on your compressor, or a bad compressor. If it is under 5 years you usually have a 5 year sealed system warrantee that pays for parts and labor on the compressor. It does not pay for a relay overload capacitor. The problem is some warrantee companies will void your warrantee if you or an unauthorized servicer works on your unit. I would recommend you have maytag send out a technician to diagnose this, mainly because I have seen a lot of bad Maytag compressors lately. If it is over 5 years old you can replace the overload relay capacitor and test to see if it works. Before you do this you should remove the old overload relay capacitor from the compressor and do a continuity test between all three terminals and between the terminals and the compressor case. You should have continuilty between the terminals but not between the terminal and the case. If you dont have continuity between the terminals or if you do have continuity between a terminal and the case, then you have a bad compressor. Do not install the new overload relay capacitor as you cannot return these to the parts house once they have been installed. Even after all the tests and even if your compressor starts up you can still have a compressor failure within a couple of days. A technician can hook up your compressor to a tester and determine if it is good or bad. If a compressor is bad it usually costs 900 to 1100.00 to replace through any of the service companies in my area. Not worth repairing. Hope this helps, Appliance Specialists

I need to know how change 3-1 relay overload capacitor for my fridge, it have 2 power wires so i don't not were atached this two wires

the two power wires go to the incoming power to the compressor, then there should be three other wires that go to the common/start/run terminals on your compressor.

Whirlpool fridge not cooling gone warm air blowing

more than likely the compressor is not starting, it has a starting device on the left side of the compressor which has a relay/overload called a relay, remove the relay and shake it , if it rattles it has gone bad. the relay/overload combination has gone bad and can be replaced with pro41 relay. if the compressor has a run capacitor just eliminate the capacitor when replacing with new relay. connection of the two wires makes no difference.

No cold in fridge or freezer: buzzing compressor

There is no start motor. If the brand of the compressor is a tecumpseh then it is most likely the problem and has a 5 yr warranty from the date of purchase. If it is an Embraco compressor I would try and overload and relay. They are all in one part sometimes called a start device.
