Computer not recognizing web camera

When plugging the web camera into the USB port, the computer cannot find the camera. We had it working just fine and now nothing. The same port recognizes a digital camera when plugged in. We have tried reinstalling the drivers and running a fix using the cd provided. Any suggestions?

The only other thing that I would suggest you try to do is (if possible) goto another PC or maybe a friends PC and plug the web cam in. If it does the same thing then the web cam no longer works. If it does work, then you may want to try another USB port on your PC.

Unable to download pictures

I do know that sometimes a usb port will fail, for whatever reason, to recognize a device. It's happened to me before, and you can try a couple things. First, unplug and plug the usb port back in while it's connected to the camera. If the computer fails to recognize it, try you different usb ports, and the computer may respond. Aside from that, if you're running the XP or later versions of windows, you might try restoring your computer to a time before this problem occurred. Also, an update to Windows could have adversely caused this to happen, and restoring to an earlier date would hopefully reset the usb software's ability to recognize the port. Perhaps someone else will have suggestions if none of these things work, but that's the limit of my dealings with this problem. There's always the possibility that a hardware issue is at work here, but I hope not. If you do discover the port is bad, you can always get a hub and deal with it that way, leaving it connected to a known, good usb port. Just make sure you get a hub that is aided by a power source to relieve the computer from the burdon of powering up the hub. Good luck.

Canon hv30 is't being recognized on my vista computer

You may have used a different USB port on the computer. Try a different one.
Generally, any USB port would work, except that some devices create a "Virtual USB" connection that is configured with a specific USB port.

Computer no longer recognizes my scanner

If you are using a multi port USB adapter that allows you to plug many devices into one USB port it may interfere with the scanner. Try uninstalling your Epson driver then download the newest one from the Epson website. http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=88368&prodoid=63070478&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform=All&x=27&y=14

Install the newest driver first then plug your scanner into a single USB port on the computer instead of the multi port.

USB DEvice not recognized

Turn off the CPU unplug the power cable and all usb cables, let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Plug power cable back in, turn on CPU, plug in your usb devices.

USB DEvice not recognized

I had a problem like this -- tried plugging the camera in to the rear USB slots not the front ones and it worked fine.

I think that it doesn't like going via a USB hub, but wants a direct connection. All of the USB ports on my computer are connected direct to the motherboard (i.e. none are on PCI cards or anything), but looking at the hardware info for the computer, it looks like the motherboard has a few "direct" USB connections, and then an on-board hub which the front ports connect to. If your computers are the same, that would explain things. I'd suggest trying each USB port one at a time (turn the camera off before plugging in, and back on when in) and see if one of them works. Wouldn't hurt to power the camera from the mains at the time too.

Camera No Longer Being Recognized

Does it connect to the PC via a USB cable? Then try connecting to a different USB port or if you have try a new USB cable. I had the same problem with my IXUS 400 and changing to a new USB port, directly to the PC - not a USB hub, it worked. However now I have several issues with my camera - no sound or image on the LCD screen, but I think these are unrelated.

Bad USB conection?

it's not likely the cable went bad.  Do you have more than one USB port you can try? do you have other USB devices to test the port? did you reboot?

No usb port found

If you can't find such on your machine, then it's either disabled, the BIOS is out of date, the OS doesn't support your USB (Examples abound!) or other. I cut my time loss by adding an USB PCI card.
