I had a "screeching" color wheel in my RCA HD50LPW175 DLP HDTV. It had reached the point where the TV would shut down in a few seconds after attempted start-up - no video. After replacing the color wheel, the set turned on just fine, video and audio were working, and the screeching noise was gone. Only one problem, the colors are wrong. It almost looks like a polarized image. I suspect red and blue have somehow been reversed. Any suggestions?
Hello,
You probably replaced a bearing colorwheel, and it was replaced with a bearingless. If you look inside the TV on the back of the light engine (the silver box in front of and to the left of the color wheel), there should be a jumper (that connects two wires coming out) toward the bottom of it in a recessed little hole. That jumper should be removed if the color wheel was replaced with the air bearing type. Just grasp it gently with a pair of needle nose pliers, and pull it out slowly.
This should restore a normal color operation, but there might be some other adjustments that need to be made if it doesn't clear it up completely.
I hope this helps you...
I am not sure about your model but i do know on some samsung dlps there is a dip switch that has to be changed if you have the backwards color after changing the color wheel.I hope this helps.
