right, okay located near the freewheel lever maybe on the brake is a microswitch that is depress whe nyou move the freewheel lever, make sure that is the case , if that appears okay test the switch by touching the two contacts then turning on , they must stay connected, the microswitch can be faulty. did the tiller part of the scooter get wet or damp ? that is where the speed dial etc is located

Lap top is not charging

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced.

Scooter won't move

Things to check: Drive/Free wheeling switch, brake release lever (this activates an internal micro-switch that enable power to the drive system, battery box connectors (condition of contacts - corroded, missing, loose. etc.); main control cable (corrosion. lose or missing pins, etc). If all these are OK, could be controller or drive control potentiometers (speed, forward, backward) on the handle-bar (tiller).
Good luck!

Not really, the older NiCad batteries get a memory effect if you keep charging from a half charged state, but modern Lithium batteries do not suffer from this problem.

We have a Fortress Scientific 2000 electric scooter that hasn't been used for several years. We put in new batteries, it shows fully charged, comes on and has a steady beep, but won't go forward or...

Your break release shifter is in the push the scooter mode. Put it back in gear and the horn doesn' beep and it should run..
The horn beeping is the alarm to tell you the break release is on.

It is usually located under the seat on the body of the top of the battery housing. Looks like a stick with a ball on it.
