1995 Jeep Cherokee Radio replacement

It takes scanner to do it. Not all scanners can do it. Call before going. Dealers can do it.

1. Radio ON, tune to the XM channel 0 and record the radio ID. The radio ID will be required for activation of the new receiver.
2. Call XM radio to deactivate the faulty receiver and activate the new receiver.

3. Park the vehicle outside in an area with an unobstructed view of the southern sky.
4. Leave the vehicle outside with the ignition switch in the ACC position and the radio ON, tune to the XM channel 1 for 30 minutes to activate XM service.
5. Once activated, the radio will receive the remaining XM channels.

Often times you'll need an aftermarket integration kit to get an XM ready car radio to work. This is a two part system including the tuner to tie the subscription to and a translator to code it so the radio face will understand and display the information accurately. If it is a built in system, which is sounds like it is. Your XM receiver is not functioning correctly. I believe a replacement XM receiver is covered under your warranty if you have one with your Honda dealership.

Same problem here. I repeatedly complained to XM but got no reply. I listen to XM in 2009 Sonata and it was just as bad.

XM is better than AM. Much worse than FM.

I have had this problem at least a half-dozen times, and the simplest solution is to pull the 2 fuses labeled 'audio 1' and 'audio 2.' It resets the radio, but it will work for a while after that (until I have to do it again). Had the xm unit replaced 3 times, new antenna installed, replaced the antenna connection wire - it always dies within a month.

Get your subscription refunded. There is nothing wrong with your radio. if they can't make it work, don't pay them.

There are 3 fuses in the interior fuse panel that feeds radio.
no. 11(10amp) is ignition switch power to the radio it comes into radio on the TN/LB wire.
no. 27 (10amp) is hot at all times and comes in on OG/LG wire.
no. 12 (5amp) is hot in run or accessory and comes in on YE/BK wire.
Check these with 12V test light at fuse and at radio connector.

If you are looking to convert your radio from XM to Sirius, there are a number of kits available by typing 'convert radio from XM to Sirius' into your favorite search engine. But why bother? XM and Sirius have merged and you can now get Sirius programming on the XM band.

"XM Ready" means that you have to have a satelite radio installed in order to have XM service. I went through this when buying my 2005 CR-V and thought that all I needed was to set up the service. If you have an XM receiver installed you can controll it on your Honda factory radio. It is very misleading.
