Memory card flashes full when it's not

I let my friend borrow my camera (Nikon D50) and after I got it back whenever I turn the camera on it flashes 'full' even though I've compeletely emptied the memory card.

There should be a "format card" option in the camera's system menu. do this and it may help the unfortunate equipment realize the situation:) (be sure there are no pics you want to keep as they will be permenantly removed)

Nikon D50 powers up but none of the functions work. Battery indicator flashes but battery is fully charged. No memory card also flashes though memory card is inserted correctly.

Hi Have you tried resetting the camera back to factory settings? This should clear up any problems...if it doesn't it may at least let you know what the problem is? Also...do not use an SD card no bigger than 2 gigs, What is thee display showing? Make sure the date and time are correct! Get back to me if you need any more help...Thanks...John,

I OWN A NIKON D50 ,,''ITS IN "CARD IS LOCKED" MODE

Look at your memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My Nikon Coolpix L1110 whenever i turn it on with memory card the camera message THIS CARD CANNOT BE USED.. but without the memory it is find and ok.... I put the memory on my laptop and it is working all...

Don't be so quick blaming your camera for everything. :)
Maybe that message means the memory card is either full or nearly full.

When did it start saying that? Did you try another memory card in the camera?

Flashes chr and won't fire

This can be caused by a badly connecting memory card, take it out and ensure its clean and connecting properly, also happens in cold climates, ensure the battery is fully charged. This is a comon problem with the D50

Memory not working in my D50.

The D50 will only accept up to a 2gb SD card. Cards of 4gb and larger are a newer type of SD card, known as SDHC (secure digital high capacity). At the time the D50 was made, SDHC cards weren't on the market. In short, if it is larger than 2gb it won't work. There's also no upgrade that I've found to handle SDHC cards in the D50, either. I love my D50, except for the card limitation.

Memory Card

The first memory card I had, had gotten corrupted, and the D50 can only take 2GB memory cards and below. the 2nd one i had bought was a 4GB memory card. I just had to get a new low capacity one.

My Nikon D50 camera says

It thinks that the SD card is full - try re-formatting if you have no photos there. The SD functions the same as a PC hard drive, and if the directory 'tracks' are corrupt, anything could happen. Else try a new SD card.

Nikon D50 CHA error

The issue is that the firmware on the d50 only recognizes FAT16. Now the problem with FAT16 is that it has a limit of 2GB. So, if you have a 4GB card, you are just SOL. There isnt anything wrong physically with the camera. Buy a smaller card.
