Zanussi fridge freezer not cooling

Hi, I have a Zanussi fridge freezer which is not cooling. All the electrics work and if I flick the orange freezer light to 'on' in the fridge compartment, the freezer freezes up. I wondered if it was the thermostat?

No, its probably weak capacitors which provide power to switch the relay. Take the control board out and ask a friendly TV repair tech to change the capacitors

Zanussi fridge freezer alarm keeps sounding

If the refrigerator and freezer are both working properly. Then the only problem would be the alarm, It's either the placement of the alarm thermometer or the alarm thermometer is stuck closed.

Zanussi fridge freezer wont stop making a whirring noise

Sounds like the unit is goosed and is trying none stop to get the temperature down in the fridge.

That is of course unless the ice is building up like an iceberg inside the cabinet in which case the thermostat has gone

Freezer very hot at the back

It is usual for the back of a fridge or freezer unit to get hot at the back as it uses a thermal transfer or heat pump process. As a freezer tends to cool the inside much more than a fridge it will obviously get hotter.
Make sure there is sufficient air flow around the rear of the unit and that no one can touch the rear radiator element, (to prevent burns.)
More expensive freezers actually use a fan to help circulate air around this rear element.

See http://uk.danfossuniverse.com/page2072.aspx for a more graphical demonstration of the workings.

Not freezing/cooling

Sorry but this sounds serious to me. If you have no cooling effect whatsoever and the compressor runs that means it's either not pumping or the refrigerant has leaked out. This is one you may have to call a tech out for. good luck

Fridge making a purring sound then stopped working

Yes, I think you have a problem that can be fixed easily by a repair technician. The sound as you described it could have come from the air circulation fan in the freezer compartment striking ice. As the ice builds up it could have stopped the fan from rotating and air flow to the refrigerator compartment.

Auto defrost is not working on my zanussi ice free fridge /freezer

You have a defrost problem. It means you have 3 parts that can be involve ( timer, defrost thermostat, element) most of the time it's the timer. Hope it was helpful. :)

I have an unexplained smelly zanussi fridge/freezer model Model zx99/5si? I have a zanussi frost free fridge/freezer model Model zx99/5si which is just 4 years old and it is now giving off a revolting...

Hi - we had this problem, and it was in fact where some blood from a defrosting pice of meat drained into the compressor condensation tank and began to decay!

I agree the smell is terrible, so a good clean up is needed but this solves the problem immediately!

Kind regards,

Mike
