Wii is showing Disc could not be read error

Hi guys, this look like a good site to ask, I have this error sometimes and I was able to solve it by restarting my console but from time to time it happens. Is there any quick fix for this problem?

We just got our Wii and keep getting the same disc read error. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to get the system to read the disc, is this normal?

Our fan sounds horrible on our WII. Now it says "an error has occured, please turn console off and refer to the manule." Does this mean our system is shot? Thanks Candy

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. Be sure to make sure the disc itself is clean and free of scratches. If the disc does have scratches on it, you may want to invest a few dollars on a scracth repair kit.

Your drive could be defective, I would recommend calling Nintendo. I hear they have great customer support. You might also have a dirty drive you could try getting a can of compressed air and blowing it in there. If you do that blow the air in small bursts, don't hold the trigger down, the cold could ruin your Wii even more.

Disc read error

Hello, the best solution I feel I could give you is this link from one of my favorite sites. They have simple step-by-step instructions on solving Wii disk read errors. I should mention this site has instructions ranging from cleaning your disk properly to taking the Wii apart to clean and or adjust parts. If you feel uncomfortable doing any repairs and the cleaning steps didn't fix your problem, you may have to bring it to a repair facility. You can also try your local want ads for people who offer services to fix game systems. It could be as simple as a dirty disk or Wii lens. I hope this helps :D

Unable to read wii discs

I had the same problem, I take it you have a modded wii(chipped), if you use a backup disc it is of a lower quality then original discs, the wii gets read errors without you noticing and tries to read those disc areas again sometimes suceeding and the gaming goes on, sometimes it fails, and a disc read error occurs. Over time the dvd assembly will take some damage it will loose it rigidity it once had and the wii stops reading discs. The problem gets worse if you have standing up, so first thing si to flip it down and try. Otherwise you (or someone you trust) will have to open the wii and adjust the lens sled so it wont flap as much up and down. Hope this helps..
