How do i get administrators password

Are there other users in the laptop or is there an administrator?

You can try removing the battery and unplugging the power cable for 5 mins. Tried to restart laptop and log in.Make sure that numlock and caps lock is enabled if needed.I hope that you have a good back-up of file. in case this wont work forgotten windows password will lead you to re-install windows.

If you have another account on your laptop that has administrator rights, log in into that account and change the password for your account. If you have an administrator account (even if you don't try putting in Administrator and leave password field blank) try using that account to reset the password, otherwise try one of the following:

- or if anything else didn't work you can use thrid party software from Hiren's Boot CD to reset your login password http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/Hirens.BootCD.12.0.zip

my computer wont let me download anything unless i put in the administrator password, but it wont let us log on to the administrator and i remember the password
i tried going onto the control panel user account and it doesn't show the administrator there either
what can i do to delete the administrator

We can not help you break passwords on computers. This is illegal for us to do in case the machine is stolen. The password prompt you are getting was most likely set by HP and you will have to call them for it.

Hi, if its windows xp, when you switch on the pc keep press f8 when menu appears go into safe mode, once in safe mode, select administrator if it lets you in there goto control panel, user accounts and remove password on other accounts,
if it comes up password for administrator its locked, a system restore wont remove the password.
but there is software for like £5 in ebay that removes it by booting from the cd..

Yes, when you switch the laptop on hold down the F8 key until you see a black screen with a list of white text, one of the options will be "Safe Mode", use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode (just safe mode, not safe mode with anything) and press return. The computer will start to the welcome screen and you will see a user-name you don't normally see called "Administrator". Click on Administrator and you will find it is not password protected (in spite of the fact that the Administrator account has more access to the system than any other account!) when the administrator profile loads it will ask you if you want to continue in safe mode and you do. click start, click control panel and click on users and groups now click on your son's user account and click remove password. now click back, click on the Administrator account and click change password, the old password should be left blank and you're new Administrator password should be something at least 7 letters, numbers and special characters (!@£$%^&*) long that you can remember. Now just restart and let it start up normally, once loaded advise your son to set a password he can remember or at least write down somewhere safe.
