GodofHops: The motor that you hear on the refrigerator is the water pump that carries the water to your dispenser. If no water is coming from the dispenser. You have to check 3 things: 1. If there's any water. 2. Water filter clogged. 3. Water line for dispenser clogged with minerales carried on water flow. SithPitt

You should not hear the noise of a motor unless you are trying to dispense ice. Is that the case your ice dispensor is not working?

The water lines might be frozen. The found the water lines in my fridge behind the bottom drawers and used a hair dryer to melt the ice.

Turns out that the water hose inside the freezer door was frozen. Hot water was the cure.
Every time I've used the extra-ice button the water hose in the freezer door froze.
is there some sort o solenoid in the water dispenser section.
i have no water flow. the water tank if fine and there is water getting to the pump at the back.
when i press the dispenser lever there is no sound of any pump etc operating
Water dispenser will not work. The light works but the dispenser does not. When pressing the water dispenser you can hear the motor running but no water. The ice maker is in the freezer not the dispenser. The ice maker is working fine.
Wow! It took about 10 minutes to fix the dispenser problem. Thanks! It works just fine now. I took the hair dryer to defrost the line. Great site to come to.

I have a Frigidaire side by side refrigerator (model FRS6HR35KWO) that has suddenly stop dispensing water. The problem seem to occur between Friday and Sunday because the last time I used the water dispenser (the previous Thursday, it worked fine). Because there was no water coming out, I thought it was a filter issue (the refrigerator doesn't have a filter light) so I replaced it. The water dispenser still doesn't work. I can hear the water inside the refrigerator moving and my hose moving about behind the refrigerator as it always does but the water is not reaching the outside door dispenser. When I remove the filter from the inside of the refrigerator and press the water dispenser lever on the door, the water dispenses inside the refrigerator (where the filter would be attached) with no problem. Once I put the filter back on and try to dispense water, I can hear it working but no water comes out. I'm using a Frigidaire Pure Source filter RG-100. I've used this filter for years and haven't had a problem before.
