SOURCE: Processor upgrade

Your CPU is tied into your motherboard. Only CPUs that are compatible with your motherboard will work. You can get your motherboard model from start>programs>system tools>system information. Once you have the model # then you can start searching for the CPU options. Good Luck.

SOURCE: Can I upgrade my CPU to an Intel Core 2 duo 1.7

You are basically limited to what was optional on the model. So you can only upgrade to one of the following cpus:

Intel Pentium M 745 (1.8-GHz) with 400-MHz front
side bus (FSB)
Intel Pentium M 735 (1.7-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 725 (1.6-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Pentium M 710 TJ85 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB;
operates at a lower temperature than other processors
Intel Celeron M 340 (1.5-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB
Intel Celeron M 330 (1.4-GHz) with 400-MHz FSB

And you are limted to 2gb of ram max on this model.

SOURCE: HP HP ProBook 4510s - Core 2 Duo T5870 / 2.0 GHz -

You can only download drivers for the chip set that is in your laptop. Any other will give trouble.
Consult your manual or HP.com to be sure what is actually there.
Hope this helps

I have hp compaq 6910p laptop, which worked at its best for several weeks after it was bought. but few days back it started freezing, taking too much time in startup and to run programs aswel. I was told...

this must be
compaq week, from the piles of old puters sold at goodwill
why fool with such old hardware. its not supported?

now the deal.,
#1 slow is virus infection, not you, formatted, but is #1 #1 #1
#2, slow hard drive, they can in fact get old and glow slow
run SMART on it yet?, see if its FAILING as most are this old>
end #2 why own BOOT HDD< ever. now??????

3: CPU over heats, did you know all CPUs all slow down when too hot. ? it's in the core, that does, that, not the PC, inside the CPU
it has self preservation code, and a temperature sensor (diode)
and not just 1 sensor. either,.
4: there free software to use and see all core temps, 55c is par.
if overheated fix that NEXT !! ask.

5:why not put in a new SSD and end this HDD dogs life, like all savvy owners have done, long ago...(boot drives at least)

6: not enough ram. 2g is not enough now. ever the 270 MS updates and more bloatware w7 it eats tons of extra ram then it SWAPS out.
do you know the term swaps ? means HDD simulates RAM.
and HDD sucks, so swaps becomes, SUPER SUCKS.
look in task manager, see that happen, easy.

why not upgrade to W10, its way better and has a future.

Where dos jumper located on compaq 6910p and how can i remove bios password on 6910p

Most "laptop" computer do *NOT* have a jumper that can be used to bypass a BIOS password.
This is DELIBERATELY done, so that a thief in possession of your laptop cannot bypass your password, and thus cannot use your stolen laptop.

Find your original bill-of-sale, to prove ownership, and telephone HP/Compaq, and ask for Technical Supoprt in resetting the BIOS password.

Hp 6910p laptop wont turn off. Fan running. what gives?

Something is keeping it from shutting down. This could be caused by a faulty application or driver. My suggestion is to hold the power button down until the unit completely shuts down. Take out the battery, unplug the ac-adapter, attempt to power it on and then put the battery back in. Attempt to restart the computer.

Good Luck!

Is buying this Hp Compaq 6910p Battery a wise decision?

I have bought a couple of batteries from them before. They work just make sure that the voltage of the battery. (10.8v) matches the voltage on your battery. Also make sure that the mah 6600mah is greater or the same as the battery that you have. The mah is the mili ampers per hour (in other words the fuel) the bigger the mah the longer your battery will run. I also find ebay a great place to buy hp batterys from. Just make sure that they are oem hp and not a generic knock off and you will be fine and use the same rules from above. and also make sure they will fit your model number. I hope this helps
thanks

I have an hp compaq 6910p lap top which a friend has password it in the setup and i am finding it difficult to use it. what should i do to clear the password in the setup. eric

You can try to open your computer and disconnect the cmos battery for 10 minutes. this is a small battery that keep the changes saved. When you disconnect it, All changes will be lost. So also the password. This is the sequence:

1: take off the accu
2: open up the laptop
3: take the cmos (small flat round battery) out
4: Wait 10 minutes
5: plug in you adapter and boot the laptop
6: when you see that the password is gone, power off the laptop
7: plug everything back in.
8: You are done! :)

Problems with the ac smart adapter Hp Compaq 6910p

You could possibly have a loose dc jack.Being able to wiggle it around and getting it to work tells me that the jack is probally going out. That wiggling your doing can cause an arc on your system board, which can short out your board.Stop wiggling your power supply adapter in your dc jack and take your computer to certified repair shop and have your jack checked.Best to rule this out first ,so no damage is done to your board. If you jack test good ,then replace you power supply....Good luck
