Bought this thing back in 2001, and used it once or twice. Now, I'd like to use it again to send some video to some family.
I've spent many, many hours trying to figure out how to successfully download the XP drivers, and finally managed to do it yesterday. However, I still seem to be unable to use this thing while attmepting to capture video via Microsoft Windows Movie Maker.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I now realize that I was remiss in providing details, something that I usually pride myself at. The problem that I'm experiencing is that the Capview device does not record video. Obviously, there is the possibility that the thing is no longer operating, but it has not been abused, and worked when last I used it. Maybe I should abuse it just to get past this. I appreciate your attempt to help, but file sending is not my problem, rather, recording video is.I now realize that I was remiss in providing details, something that I usually pride myself at. Hi, Try this trick to get around Microsofts silly habits. [We all have come across them somewhere]
Open "my documents" create a new file, name it to suit your video, plug your camera/player in and run the video into the created file.
Then simply send the file as an attachment in an email. Ensure you tell the person you send it to exactly which program you used, so when they open it window's does not get confused.
This can be done from MS PowerPoint/ MS Office and several others.

Most current receivers no longer include a PHONO input. Perhaps what could be done is to purchase a phono to line level pre-amplifier to go along in your purchase for a new receiver.
Will scout around for receivers and post back additional information.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
There is a mod you can do to the 1200 to make it spin in reverse with a double-tap on the start / stop switch - exactly as you're describing. Likely, the previous owner installed said mod. It's awesome, embrace it.
It is a mechanical switch so all you purchased can be from a bad batch of them.
I had seen this before happen some years back. Mention this to the dealer you bought these from

It sounds like you would like to re-assign one of the function buttons on the remote to control a different device. If you would like to program the CBL/SAT button to control a DVD player, here are the steps:
On the remote, press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice, then release SET.
Enter 9 9 2. The LED will blink twice.
Press DVD/VCR once.
Press CBL/SAT once. The LED will blink twice. The CBL/SAT key is now ready to be set up to control your DVD player.
To setup the CBL/SAT button to control your Magnavox DVD player, follow these steps:
Turn on your DVD.
On the remote, press the CBL key once.
Press and hold SET until the LED blinks twice, then release SET.
Enter the first four-digit code from the following list: 0503, 0675. The LED will blink twice. If it does not blink twice, go back to step 2 and try the same code again.
Aim the remote at the DVD and press POWER. The device should turn off. If it does not turn off, repeat steps 2 through 5 with the next code in the list.
this happens to every laptop after a while, although after only 2 months it should be ok, you may need to send it back under guarantee, but remember you will have more things running now then when you first had it, using more processor power and also any usb peripherals youve added also shorten battery life.
