Fault to the main power supply regulator section. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. sounds like bad capacitors on the power board. Very common problem. I would look at the caps if any appear even slightly rounded on top they are bad. They should be perfectly flat on top any puffing up means replace that cap.
Sure the power supply si working and the processor seems struck up to trigger the power but is not responding to the remote. So it is important that the main processor is checked to fulfill the working. Check for the +5 rail voltage, check for the input /output data, check the remote feed of data and the crystal oscillator.
It is possible that there is a failure around the processor or the memory.
Did power signal lights appear? If there's no power signal lights, check the fuse, located at the power supply. If the fuse is good, maybe the power supply is dead. There's a leak capacitor in the power supply.Try to replace all the leak capacitor..The leak capacitor can identify through visual checking when you didn't know how to use tester. The leak capacitor is rounded top shape and have moise at the top, compare to flated shape of good capacitor. Thanks, hope will it help you..
Sounds like high voltage power supply has gone bad. You can try purchasing new PS online and replacing yourself if handy or you will need to bring in for service.
try cycling the power (unplug 2 minutes) and plug in and wait 30 seconds and turn back on. if this doesn't work, could have been a surge, your protector should have saved it, but could have been through cable or something. surge protectors will guarantee no damage for several years, check with the manufacturer maybe they'll cover the repair.
