I have some very important files that were accidently erased from my olympus VN4100PC digital voice recorder. I am willing to destroy the device to retrieve the lost data. I have already tried PC inspector and Optimum Recovery FAT software. Neither could find the recorder when it was connected to my pc, it doesn't appear as a drive or a mass storage device. I would rather get the files back myself than send the recorder to some company. If anyone knows or has some ideas please let me know.
Chances are there to recover such kind of deleted files from your Olympus recorder.
First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.
Then connect your device to a PC, and have a try of Photo Recovery (also recover audio, voice memos, video files etc), a data recovery program which is good at recovering media files lost. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to Data Recovery for Mac.
Lastly, I hope you good luck. Again you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP.
You can download a Olympus Recorder data recovery software, here's a good one:
How to recover deleted files data from Olympus digital voice recorder
hope this helps.
Unfortunately due to the type of memory, it can not be done
Have you tried this recorder another
computer?
If this recorder could read functionally
there, you'd better use a deleted data recovery freeware to retrieve your deleted files back for free .
This data recovery freeware always would
help easily retrieve the deleted files back successfully.
But, if this recorder cannot be read there
normally, your recorder may get some problems. If these deleted files are very,
very important, you'd better consult an expert.

I've got exactly the same problem.
So have i. I have a W10 recorder and the only thing that seems to access the device is the olympus software. It does not show as a drive anywere else. Isn't any program capable of making it visible as a drive?
