TV turns off after two minutes. Power light blinks for a few minutes then TV comes back on. Turning the power off after the set shuts itself off will cause the power light to blink five times for a minute or two then shut down. I read that a high current draw from the lamp can cause the set to turn off, I do not know if this will work because of the protection circuit but was thinking if the lamp was removed will the set turn on? If so you would still hear the audio and if it did not shut down that would indicate that there was a good chance replacing the lamp would solve the problem. Does anyone know if the set will be damaged by running it without the lamp or for that matter will it even turn on? I have the same problem! Did you replace your lamp and does it work now?

Ok- I've paid more attention to timing and the TV will stay on 1-2 minutes and then shut off for about 30 seconds while the standby indicator blinks continuously (55 times) and then the tv turns back on. I appreciate all of your help, but could you make it a little simpler to understand?

Also- my exact TV model is
    Sony Wega SXRD # KDS-R60BR1

5 blink indicates - AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

    The AKB circuit is not
satisfied with the CRTs cathode current and keeps the CRT blanked. The warmer it
gets, the more likely the circuit is to allow the picture to come on.

AlSo you need to check the Capacitor On PS unit, because the capacitor can dry (
electrolit liquid ) you can try to replace all capacitor High voltage
    On ps unit you TV

You can do it with the help of service manual . Else you need to call technican to check the circuit .

Stalling coming on

LG's are known for having bad capacitors in the power supply. These components will cause all kinds of problems like not turning on, no backlight or no video and are known to do this after the TV has been off for a few hours or days. You will need service on this TV.

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

If your set was manufactured around July 2005, you may need a firmware upgrade to solve this issue. On the Sony website you can enter your model # and serial # to see if you TV is affected. If so, it is easy to have done and may be free from Sony. It sounds like the issue they described in the writeup on the required formware update. I had mine done within few months of when i bought it (purchased in Dec 2005) and it has been working flawlessly since.

Good luck!

Tv cuts off and green light flashes

Yup, it seems a lamp problem can give a blinking green light over the 10 times (1 - 10 times for diagnostic codes), but in my case rather than replace the bulb if it works for a minute then resets with the green light blinking, do what I did.
Take the lamp out and inspect it, it has breather screens top and bottom, if it cant breath because there clogged with dust, clean them, and you can remove the screens, use q-tips and clean the inside. I saved the cost of a lamp and it's working fine!

TV won't turn on

There is a failure in the scan amplifiers, and or the power supply. This will require trouble shooting by an experienced TV tech who has access to the service manuals and know the set.

There are many components in the set that can cause this type of failure.

Did you not take an extended warranty???

This type of repair is not low in cost to have done.
