If the hard drive in the IBM laptop is OK then remove the hard drive from this laptop. Connect this hard drive to an USB hard drive adapter then connect the USB adapter with the hard drive into the USB port on the Vaio laptop. The Vaio laptop should see it as an external storage device (if the hard drive is OK). You can then open the various folders and files then copy these to the Vaio laptop

SOURCE: Storejet problem

Good day!

1. Go to my computer and right click then click manage, go to disk management and see if your external harddisk is showed. If showed, then you can see the options there to manipulate your harddisk, either you format it or repartition.
2. You can use also a disk manager software to fully control the function.

Mac OS X Computer crashed: how to restore from storejet 25P

Hi,

Hard drive recovery software is the exact answer for your question how to restore crashed hard drive Mac data. Some days back, due to software conflicts my Mac hard drive was crashed and I was unable to access my data stored in it. I was really tensed because the stored data was very much important to me. Then I searched over the internet and found this software which successfully restored all my lost data and I was very much happy after getting back my data. The software can be downloaded either from official website or by simply clicking here.

Good luck,

Fiona Dsouza

Run a check disk on your drive

My computer > Properties > Tools > Check disk (in Windows 7 it's Error Checking)

sounds like your drive is on the way to dying, i'd recommend looking for a replacement drive.

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use asoftech data recovery program to recover your files.

Dropped StoreJet 2.5

Drives are very delicate. If it has been dropped, I'd copy everything off and bin it. You could buy a new drive itself and put it in the Transcend case - saves money :-) It sounds like the drive heads would have been damaged by the drop.

Froze laptop

Yes, the hard drive can be taken out and put into an enclosure. Then you can hook it up to another computer and save the data . Enclosures cost anywhere from 29.99 - 49.99.
I buy them from Cyberguys, great customer service:

My computer died, but

the easy way to recover your data is to take out your hard drive and connect it as a secondary drive in any other computer, then you can get back all the data. if this is not possible you can use many data recovery tools like Norton ghost, for your help. .

Retreiving information off barely-functioning IIIx

Sorry to hear about your trusty little workhorse dying, but all is not lost, meaning your data. You'll just need to get a replacement sync cable that can somehow replace the old RS232 connection. You should be able to use the same cable that connects to the m100 without spending the extra money to buy the old Palm MacPac. Once you've got your data retrieved your new device (I assume you're addicted like the rest of us) should offer you more options. Otherwise you may want to consider getting a USB or Firewire expansion card.
