Sat/cbl button defaults to channel 17

While trying to program my remote to operate my cable box (scientific atlantic) I hit sat/cbl and instantly the tv channel is changed to channel 17. I now have operational control of my cable box but can't watch anything because my tv needs to be on channel 3. I can change the channel back to 3 with my tv remote and everything works normal. Course doesn't make much sense to have an all-in-one remote if I have to do this. Is there a way that you can change the sat/cbl button to default to channel 3 when pressed?

I am having the same problem except that my TV changes to channel 2. Customer service(at audiovox, explained below) told me they don't know why it is doing this other than there is a compatibility issue between the remote and my devices.  This was after I had to look up the RCA customer support number online and was then given another phone number by RCA and told to call the manufacturer of the remote,  Audiovox. The RCA customer service rep was very rude when I asked if she could repeat the number of Audiovox. After talking to several customer service representatives at Audiovox and trying their solution of resetting the remote several times, I was finally given the following solution:
    1.Turn on the TV
2.Set the volume that I intend to listen to the TV for the entire time I am watching TV
3.Cover the infared reciever on the TV (hence setting the volume becuase with this covered volume is unadjustable)
4.Press the satallite device button and begin watching.

This is just rediculous. Even if I am doing something wrong in setting up this remote, after following all given directions exactly, and the difficulty I am having is my own fault, I expect customer service to be courtious and knowledgable enough to walk me through it. If the problem lies with the product, I expect them to be honest enough to tell me that this product will not work with my devices instead of giving me this circutous solution. I'm returning this remote to the store and never buying anything RCA ever again.

I don't understand the manual! How do you get any channels tuned in on the Technika LCD19-910

on all tvs there is a menu pannel find the menu button on the remote or tv could also be called setup button look for channel option or antena cable option (no on most of the new tvs it is an auto scan) and select that option it will scan throught the channels and auto add the ones that get reception say if ur using an antena

if u are trying to hook up a cable box or sat box through the antena coail wire at the same time u can not have them on so to scan for antena channels turn off the sat recver and cable box scan for channels because the sat box and cable box destors the singnal when on the same time with the antena u will proble have to go back into the main menu where yu selected the channels and manualy add channel 3 or 4 which is what runs the sat/cable box if ur using the antena hookup on the tv

if u are hooking the sat/cable box or dvd player to red gren blue or yellow white red hook up's they will be under a diffrent source chanel which u can usaly get to by hitting the input or source button on the remote

Through Amazon a Brookstone's "Jumbo Universal Remote" was delivered - there is no identification of who manufactures this remote. We need to have it control an AT&T-California cable box which was...

I happen to be a Jumbo Universal remote Expert here at Fixya, so I hope I can help. It is possible that this remote just won't run your Motorola cable box, but I wouldn't give up until I had tried the codes from the list in the manual, as well as run through the auto-setup feature of the remote for CBL and for SAT, where it just tries all the cable box codes one at a time.

I was able to find a working motorola codes for an Innovage Jumbo Remote, a three digit code remote you might as well try: 051.

You have probably tried the codes for Motorola (031) and GI (000, 032) from the manual using these steps:

1. Turn on the device with which you want to use the remote control.
2. Locate a 3-digit code for your device. (000, 031 & 032 for example)
3. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(CBL) for approximately three seconds. The POWER INDICATOR illuminates.
4. Enter the 3-digit code for your device within 30 seconds. The POWER INDICATOR shuts off.
5. Press the ON /OFF button to verify correct code entry. If the device shuts off, the code was entered correctly. If the device does not shut off, repeat steps 3-4, using a different code located on the Code List.

If those are still a bust, try the GI SAT codes 018 & 019.

Have you tried the following steps with both CBL and then SAT to search it's database?

1. Turn on the device with which you want to use the remote control.
2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(SAT or CBL) until the POWER INDICATOR on the remote control illuminates. The remote control is in programming mode.
3. Press and release ON /OFF. The POWER INDICATOR on the remote control flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.
4. Press CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN repeatedly until the device turns off.
5. When the device turns off, press any key to store the code.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

I hope that helps.
