No Picture, Menu screens or anything video - Sound still working!

Power went out, then back on - kinda, then back out during a storm yesterday. TV was on during this, but when full power was restored minutes later, there is no picture. TV source is DirecTV DVR and it appears to be changing the channels and such as always, just no picture. Three components hooked up through a surge suppressor(which did not trip) tv is only one with any problem. IDEAS? I unplugged the tv over night and still the same issue. Is there a fuse inside that protects the video?

That fixed it!!! Fuse was between three tall capacitors - there were a lot more fuses than I expected. Thanks for the quick response, sorry for posting the response late. This site is great!!

Yes... Look for F851 and replace it with a slow blow 3.15A fuse per Toshiba. Bill

You said you tried hooking the HDMI up directly from the TV to each component, and that worked. How is it usually hooked up - through some kind of switch? I'm not completely understanding your setup here.

How to reset tv after a storm

Does the satellite receiver power up? Usually they go through a test sequence when trying to reconnect, i.e., there is some picture output to the TV even when a satellite is unavailable. Did the input on the TV get changed? Try cycling through all the inputs. Do you have any other video devices, like a BlueRay or DVD player? Do they work? Divide and conquer, figure out what does work, then look deeper into what does not.

Screen froze during lightning storm. no picture now. When powering on screen lights and then dims - no picture, no sound

You might have had a power surge.Try unplugging your TV for 5 minutes and plugging it back in. If you cannot get a picture from any device such as a DVD player and cable then your TV needs serviced call a repair man. Good Luck!

you have lost the video, either because the vertical section or the deflection circuit stopped working. if the power supply is independent from the others circuits is going to work and the video does not
