Kenmore makes whining noise as it tries to spin

I have a Kenmore 80 series 110.92480200 washing machine. When it went to the spin cycle it made a loud noise and it makes this whining noise as it tries to spin but doesn't. What do you think the problem is??

Thank you so much for your response....I am looking up the part for my machine and it guess what you are mentioning is the same as a coupling motor??

I fixed the coupling and now that works. I filled the machine and started it....sometime later I came back to check it and water was all over my garage and floors. I guess it keeps filling with water but at the next cycle it refills? Do you know what I did? Probably didn't put something back together.....your input would be greatly appreciated!!

The drive coupling has probably broken. Usually happens when you overload the machine. Easy fix. READ MORE

When you replaced the case you probably pinched the air tight tube that runs from the bottom of the tub up to that water level switch. If it cannot judge the water level pressure then the water will just keep on comin in. If that ain't it then remove the hose from the switch and blow the sediment out anyway so the air pressure can make the switch work all propah.

Loud banging noise during spin cycle

If you balanced the machine, the only other problem could be the load itself. Either the load is too great or if washing a single item its falling to one side, tilting the drum and when spinning it will thump. Try even lodes.

Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

My kenmore series 80 washing machine makes a clicking sound during the spin cycle.

Might be something lodged in the drain pipe on the drum, such as a coin or similar object.

Make sure all springs are still in their place tilt the machine back and look under it and you can see them. 2nd all legs must be level as well as the floor.

Kenmore series 80 washer makes loud knocking noise during spin cy

Unless your front loader is set firmly on concrete and leveled to perfection, the force of a heavy wash load spinning in excess of 1000rpm will create a bit of vibration and noise.A firm footing is your best defense against to much movement.
Also due to the earlier movements during the spin cycle, the shocks that are used to dampen the spin cycle might have been broken or damaged.
If the problem persists inspite of proper levelling, please do check for the shocks or might have them replaced them for good.

Kenmore 80 series washer make high pitched whining noise

cold water screen in hose was half plugged causing it to either shut off the spin cylce due to lack of water or increase the spinning speed.
Hope this solves the problem.

Washing machine

it could be the break above the transmission. it engages what looks like break shoes when the machine is not spinning. if these are worn down to the rivets then it will make this noise. it requires a special tool to replace.0de7df9.jpg

Washing machine making whining noise during spin only

Yes, bearing, most definitely. It is a cheap part but difficult to replace.
