My KORG Electribe ESX-1 all of a sudden stopped working (although the knobs and functions seemed to be working fine). I thought that restoring the factory settings would do the trick. Since finding SmartMedia cards are hard to find in my neck of woods (Brazil) I found a XD/ SmartMedia adapter and tried to format it on the ESX-1 before reloading the factory settings. Much to my dismay, it kept showing the message FORMAT ERROR. Already tried to reste the system but no good. I'd appreciate any help in that matter. Cheers

First thing would be to check the power supply voltages. It may be the disk drive is failing. Drives are inexpensive, might be worth a try with a new drive. Also check that cables to the drive have not been loosend by handling.

The first thing is to verify that it is supposed to work with a particular performance. NOT ALL voices support modulation as well as pitch bend and with an arranger you can turn this feature on and off, usually in the utility functions and then save the setting for each performance/song. Read you user manual about modulation. On page 271 of your manual they show that the joystick is assignable. You have to assign the functions to the effect you want.
