Drum not turning

NOT SPINNING Same problem with old Hoover front loader (electra dual spin 1000F), too old for database but in good condition. Slight electrical burn smell last load, didn't spin out properly, now drum not turning at all though switching mech' seems to be trying to do it's thing. Checked power to motor, ok Almost definitely motor problem, could be brushes and that would be consistent with age. Don't know if motor is brush type, am about to disassemble to find out.

Problem sorted, motor is brushless and tested ok. Traced problem to statup capacitor, no circuit across terminals, will be relatively cheap fix

Electra 535 Dual Spin - I`m trying to discover what the capacity of this machine is, the manual supplied with the machine gives all spec.s apart from its size. ie is it 6, 6.5 or 7. kilos...

From what I remember, the 535 is a 5.5 kg machine. The best way to load any front loader is to have the tub full but not packed. Its the safest. As for weight capacity, due to Australian Standards testing, machines have to state what load they will handle with a certain volume of water and power usage, but any front loader, load it up but dont pack the clothes in and you will have the best efficiency. By the way, the clothes are measured dry weight..

My Hoover Front loader is leaking water from underneath the machine. It is NOT the taps..I believe it could be the rubber seal just inside the door of the machine, as it has a hole in it. Could this be the...

If the hole goes right through the seal it could be the cause, but I am inclined to think it is a vent hole for the seal and that a leaking seal will come out on the front panel. Remove the machine back and check the pump seals and the hoses, it is more likely those at that age. Take care, there may be live terminals and connectors inside the back of the machine when the power is on.

Hoover Electra 540 Dual Spin. Are hoses still available for this model? I require the hose from the filler to the drum and also from the drum to the pump.

My old Hoover top loader Washer is noisy & doesn't spin out properly - how can I fix it?

Sounds like the switch which cuts the machine off when the load is unbalanced. My guess is that: This switch is being triggered too easily The springs holding the bowl up are either stretched or one is broken; The machine may not be level.
