I just bought a new remote and cannot find the user guide for the TV. Do you need to program the remote for it to work?

Hello
You have to programme it. do the following:
[1] Make sure there are working batteries in the Toshiba remote control.
[2] Turn on your television set, DVD player or other device that you want to control with the Toshiba remote

[3] Find the "Recall" or "Setup" button on the Toshiba remote control. After you find it, press and hold down that button until the lights on the remote control turn on and remain lit.

[4] Point the Toshiba remote at the device you turned on in Step 2 and press the button on the remote for that device.

[5] Begin pressing the "Power" button on the Toshiba remote. Continue doing this until you have turned the device off using the Toshiba remote. Once it shuts off, press "Enter" on the Toshiba remote. The remote will then be programmed.

OK.

In just bought new Toshiba regza 40" Lcd tv and auto tuned it, but the picture is terible , snowy and colours are not good, what to do...

Hello
First of all reset the TV. for that

press and hold the POWER button
on the TV control panel for 5 or more seconds to reset the TV.
Then connect the TV tt any source like outdoor areiel or cable box etc, select the appropriate input, and retune the TV. First of all, connect it to an external antenna, and set it to autotune.

• You must configure the ANT/CABLE input source before

programming channels (-left-hand column).

• If the ANT/CABLE input signal type is set to Cable, the

automatic channel programming process erases channels

that were previously programmed into the TV's memory.

• If the ANT/CABLE input signal type is set to Antenna, the

automatic channel programming process adds newly found

channels to the existing set of programmed channels (and

does NOT erase channels that were previously

programmed into the TV's memory.) To remove an Antenna

source channel from the memory, you must manually delete

it.

• To tune the TV to a channel not programmed in the channel

memory, you must use the Channel Number buttons on the

remote control.

• Programming channels when the ANT/CABLE input is

configured for Cable will take substantially longer than when

the antenna input is configured for Antenna. This is normal;

however, once channel programming is finished, you should

not have to repeat the programming process again unless
your Cable TV service lineup changes significantly.
Find out the received channels are clear or not. If they are clear, your TV is perfect, and the input device you connects ot the TV is faulty. OK.

I just got a Toshiba HDTV 40RV525R and don't have a remote or owners manual. I have it set on channel 3, but don't know how to get any other channels? Can I move to another channel without a remote? ...

Yes you can if you have a signal hooked directly to the tvs antenna input. On the side of the tv you have some buttons including menu, volume which act as left and right while you're in a menu, channel which are up and down while in a menu. So, press menu and you should see a menu on the screen.Open the terrestial menu then input configuration and choose either cable or antenna to match what you connected to the tv. then select done to put that in memory. Open the menu aagin, go to set up then installation, then terrestial, then channel program and select start. The tv will start changing channels and will put in memory any channel it finds while searching. After this is done you can use the channel up and down buttons to scroll through all the channels.

Akai VSG285 video - I can't tune any TV stations thru to the VCR?

This sounds like a hookup or programming problem.

The typical hookup is cable/satellite box output to VCR antenna/RF input, then VCR antenna/RF output to television input. Since you are able to watch pre-recorded tapes, the latter is already correct. There are other ways to connect, using the audio/video outputs of VCR to audio/video inputs of the TV. Older or low end TV sets may not have these connections.

If by chance you are using an outdoor antenna (not cable or satellite) then the antenna connects to VCR antenna/RF input and VCR output as above. You will also need to program the VCR into the stations- most late VCRs will scan for active channels, and program themselves to those channels.

I'm not sure of the capabilities of newer cable & sat boxes, but generally, you had to tune that box to the channel you wanted to record. The VCR is set to channel 3 or 4 depending on the output of the cable box.

Lastly, most VCRs of the last 10+ years require the remote to setup advanced functions, such as timed record, date & channel setup functions. The buttons on the VCR itself only do very basic functions, Stop/Play/Rewind/F-forward/Eject etc.

If you don't have the orig. remote, some universal remotes may be able to do advanced programming functions.
