Car won't move from Park and/or Key stuck in ignition

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT and for the past few weeks when I start the car sometimes it won't move from park unless I let it sit running for 20 mins and then it drives fine. But THEN when I park it to get out of it the key gets stuck in the ignition. Usually if I leave the key in for 20 mins or so and go back it will pop out. I also have a python remote start/alarm system installed, could any of this be related to that security system???

Why does the alarm on my 2002 eclipse go off randomly, regardless if the doors are locked or not?

i would try resetting or reprogramming the remote, or you could try this...without starting the car turn the ignition key to the on position, then off position, do this three times then start the car and turn it off. This should reset your vehicle computer system. See if that works for ya.

We have a 2000 eclipse, a few weeks ago, somebody tried to steal it by busting up the steering colum. we just replaced the steering colum and the car doesn't want to start. does this car have a kill switch...

Yes, the car has an immobilizer, that only allows the car to start when the proper key (with the proper chip) is inserted into the ignition. Your new column prolbably has a different ignition cylinder (and thus the incorrect key) or is not capable of sending the signal to the ECU

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclispe the shift lock is on and i cannot take out my key what can i do to get it out?

Turn the key to on and move the shifter out of park, and back into park a couple times till you feel/hear the key click. With age the mechanism can be sloppy. Sometimes you can turn the key from the accessory position and back to off a couple of times till you hear /feel the click, to get the key to release. Check the side of the console my 94 colt had an oval cover, the size of a silver dollar, you could pop off and manually release the cable hold on the ignition. If you still can not get the key out unbolt the console and unhook the cable manually and you will never have the trouble again.

Ignition key gets stuck and car won't start

you might need to replace ignition key cylinder assy and replace current key, now, sometimes if this is a automatic transmission it might have problem with shifter interlock cable try moving shifter from park to first and back to park and try removing key again, but if key gets stuck and car won't start, does the key turns? does the engine cranks? are you using the correct key?

I own a 2004 mitsubishi eclipse

There is a cable that goes from the gear shifter to the ignition switch that keeps the key in place until it is placed in park. The cable needs to be lubracated and has to much friction to operate correctly. The consoled has to be removed to correct this problem. Locate the small cable and lubricate it.
