I have used a belkin usb adapter before on my HP computer and it worked fine for about 3 months. Then it broke.
Got it exchanged for the above model, would not connect - installs ok although everytime I plug it into the usb port it gives it a new number i.e usb connection 19 now. it will not find my router. it does find a neighbours connection but not mine. I have contacted the belkin helpdesk who weren't very helpful, and said to reset the router, which i did with no effect. there are other users conected into our router fine, even one using the belkin wireless G adapter.
What should i do next?
Use this tip as a check list.
Check if you set the correct SSID + Key and "connect if router is not broadcasting" set in your adapter configuration.
If you do not know Key you need to reset from Router.
If you missed SSID you can check on any PC when connected to WLAN and retrieve the name of NON BROADCASTED network
If other HP machines are showing your SSID but they do not browse Internet the only area to check is the access list in your router.
You do not disclose your Router model and I cannot be more helpful.
Generally you have to connect to your router (using Lan Cable) login as Admin and check into advanced wireless setting (or security settings) see if access list is enable.
Edit this list and you should see Mac addresses of all enabled devices.
You can either disable the list for a test OR add your WLAN adapter MAC address.
Sorry for the late answer let me know if problem is still pending

The SSID was not being broadcast so now I can find it, I've been able to connect.
However, even though when connected to the router, neither of 2 HP machines can use the adapter to access the internet, both using Windows XP Pro, but my laptop using XP home accesses the internet using it with no problems.
Any ideas?
