TP50G60 bad scrambled picture - shuts off after 1 minute

See subject! Toshiba TV shuts off after 1 minute of turning on with the red light flashing. There is some semblence of a picture if I mess with the rbg setting underneath the speaker cover, but just outlines. It will stay powered for ~ 1 minute, then shut down. Any help? Should I replace the convergence IC?

Easy to fix. I have fixed this porblem before i do 3 to 4 tv a week and this problem happens all the time. There is a loader chip on the main circuit, Just replace this and you have fixed it.

This does not sound to me like a convergence roblem. It could be a shorted picture tube. That would put the set in a shutdown condition. Normally in Toshibas , the picture remains on with a convergence problem. Here is something you can try, but you must be very careful. Remove one crt board at a time from all three tubes. if the set stays on after one of the crt board are removed , then that is the shorted picture tube.I cannot caution you on how care full you have to be trying this procedure. - Picture scrambled when set is

The TV has a bad board. It's called the Hyper board. It has been discontinued by Toshiba years ago so it is not an option to replace it. There are some TV repair shops that can rebuild this board by replacing most or all of the capacitors in it. You may want to call your local shop and see if they can do.

Flashing led light

Sounds like the circuit board may need to be replaced. Mine did a similiar thing only my picture turned upside down, screen went blank yet had good voice. Samsung tech said the 2 circuit boards were bad and had to be replaced at a cost of $780 in parts plus labor. I bought a new LCD TV, not Samsung.
