9 blinks means, "Zero Crossing Detector" and the probable cause locations listed are "D6166 or D6114 is open (G board)". I had the exact same problem so I just ordered a new G board and swapped it with the old one and now everything works fine! You could order a new one at this site: http://www.partstore.com/PartSearch.aspx?PartNumber=A1054157A&x=31&y=19. The Sony board number is A1054157A. Replacing the G board is rather simple; all you got to do is pull out the back cover of the TV and the G board is the first board on your very left. hello read my comment on shadie333 i just posted the problem i had, my tv is a kdp65ws550 which is also the same as the kdp57ws550 and kdp51ws550 mine was doing the same thing... ours is fixed... please read it

I just had the same problem. If your lucky it might be a free 5 minute fix. The five light flashes mean impropper current. I took the front grill off, then behind that is another black cover, I took that off and noticed the circuit boards COVERED in dust. I then took an air can duster and blew off all the dust... works like new. No more flashes and in an out picture. The collection of dust was interfereing with the electrical current.
