Self cleaning I did the 2 1/2 light cleaning cycle. It was working but now that the time is up there is nothing on the display. The oven is still locked but it is warm to the touch. Will the display come back on after it competely cools?

  • Anonymous Mar 06, 2009

Same as everyone else. The oven has only been in use 3 months tried self clean - no oven. Kitchenaid/whirlpool very sorry but never heard of that fault before, I suggested that was not true and could I speak to someone with technical expertise but no, help line useless. I am getting this fixed under warranty from the supplier but the upshot seems to be don't use the self clean cycle.

  • sebastrus198 Mar 08, 2009

have the same problem....never as been solved after 3 times (part change). i do not have the chance of having the warranty anymore, this cost me a lot. i would suggest that if they repair yours, try autoclean it writ away, many times.... this is a consception problem but they do not seem to want to solve it!! they always say that your the only case... probably that a lot of people like me does not use autoclean often and do it after the warranty expires! please put pressure on them for us, maybe after they pay alot for replacing parts...they are gona solve this issue!

    thanks

How to use the self clean feature for a Frigidaire FES 355 ASF

Hi Anonymous, this is AP!

I understand you are interested in the self-clean process for your Frigidaire slide in range, model FES355ASF. Start by removing all excess spillovers in the oven cavity before starting the self-cleaning cycle. To clean, use hot soapy water and a cloth. Large spillovers can cause heavy smoke or fire when subjected to high temperatures. Clean any soil from the oven frame and the door liner, but avoid cleaning the oven door gasket. These areas heat sufficiently during self-cleaning cycle to burn soil on. Clean with soap and water. Remove the oven racks, broiler pan and insert, all utensils and any foil. These items do not withstand high cleaning temperatures

Make sure the clock shows the correct time of day. Push the CLEAN button "---"will appear on display. Push the up arrow button until "3:00" appears for a 3 hour clean cycle or push the down arrow until "2:00" is displayed for a 2 hour clean cycle. Once the time is selected and released CLn will appear on the display. The door will then automatically lock and the LOCK indicator light will flash. Do not open the door while the indicator is flashing, usually about 15 seconds. The LOCK display will stay until the cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled, and the oven temperature has cooled to a safe temperature.

In the event you need to stop the cycle at any point, simply push the CLEAR OFF button and the door will automatically lock once the oven has cooled, usually about an hour.

Best of luck,

How does the self-clean feature work on a Frigidaire CFEF366EMB model?

Hi Beverly,

I understand that you are looking to run your self-clean feature on your Frigidaire range, model# CFEF366EMB.

-To start this you will remove all racks and make sure that any excessive spillovers are cleaned up as best as you can.
-Next you will press the "Clean" button, and the display will show "---".
-Press the up or down arrows to select the length of time you want the oven to clean. Usually 2 or 3 hours.
-The door will automatically lock once your time has been chosen and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the door while the light is flashing. (it takes about 15 seconds for the oven door to lock).
-"Cln" will appear in the display during the self-clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will continue to glow until the self-cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven has cooled.

When the self-clean cycle has completed:
-The time of day or "END" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow.
-Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened.
-If "END" is in the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press the "CLEAR/OFF" button and the time of day will appear on the display.

How do i operate the self cleaning function

Hello - Before using the self-cleaning cycle of the appliance, remove the broiler pan and any utensils stored in the appliance. Also remove any excess spillovers in the oven cavity. Allow the oven to cool before cleaning. During the self-cleaning cycle, the outside of the wall oven can become very hot to the touch.

Typically to set the controls for a self-clean the first step is to confirm that the clock shows the correct time of the day. Press CLEAN. "---" appears in the display. Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW once. "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle. To change to a 2 hour cycle press DOWN ARROW"2:00" appears in the display. As soon as the controls are set, the motor drive lock will begin to close automatically and the "LOCK" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the oven door while the light is flashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the over door to lock). "CLn" will appear in the display during the Self-Clean cycle and the "LOCK" light will glow until the Self-Cleaning cycle is complete or cancelled and the oven temperature has cooled.

When the Self-Clean cycle has completed, the time of the day or "End" will appear in the display window and the "Clean" and "LOCK" light will continue to glow. Once the over has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. If "End" is the display and the Clean indicator light remains ON, press CLEAR/OFF. The time of the day will appear in the display.

If it becomes necessary to stop or interrupt a Self-Cleaning cycle, press CLEAR/OFF. Once the oven has cooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has gone out, the oven door can be opened. Restart the Self-Clean cycle once all conditions have been corrected.

frame (area
outside of gasket)

opening in the door gasket with a nonabrasive

TO SET FOR IMMEDIATE START:
1. Press Clean pad once.
2. Press the Auto Set pad for 3 hours of

and again if 2 hours of clean time are
desired.
3. CLEANING and LOC plus the clean

remain on until the oven has cooled
(approx. 1 hour).
5. When the oven is cool, LOC will no

Self cleaning MAytag Gemini GAS oven

A wonderful feature is that the ovens self-clean with the press of a few buttons. Only one oven can be programmed to self-clean at a time. Remove the oven racks. Turn off the oven light and close the door. Press the "Clean" button and then press "Auto Set" to automatically clean the oven for 3 hours. Press the "Auto Set" pad again to set the oven for a 4-hour clean cycle, or press the button one more time for a 2-hour cleaning. The oven locks when in cleaning mode. When the oven is finished cleaning, the word "Cleaned" will be displayed on the control panel, and the oven will remain locked until the oven has cooled, which takes about an hour. To cancel the self-clean cycle, just press the "Cancel" button. Simple!

Self cleaning

You can go to the Maytag web site and download the manual.  www.maytag.com, or go to http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/8113p293.pdf
and download the manual CAUTION
• It is normal for parts of the ovens to become hot during a self-clean cycle.
• To prevent damage to oven doors, do not attempt to open the doors when LOCK is displayed.
• Avoid touching doors, windows or oven vent area during
a clean cycle.
Do not use commercial oven cleaners on the oven finish or around any part of the ovens.  They will damage the finish or parts.
Do not leave baking/pizza stone in the oven during self-clean.

The self-clean cycle uses above-normal cooking temperatures
to automatically clean the oven interior.
The oven should be cleaned regularly by wiping up spillovers
to prevent excessive smoke and flare-ups.  Do not allow a
heavy build-up of soil to accumulate in the oven.
During the cleaning process, the kitchen should be well
ventilated to get rid of normal odors associated with cleaning.

Before Self-Cleaning
1. Turn off the oven light before cleaning as the light may burn out during the clean cycle.
2. Remove broiler pan, all pans, and oven racks from the oven.  The oven racks will discolor and may not slide easily after a self-clean cycle if they are not removed.
3. Clean oven frame, door frame (area outside of gasket, and around the opening in the door gasket) with a nonabrasive
cleaner such as Bon Ami* or detergent and water.  The self-cleaning process does not clean these areas.  They should be cleaned to prevent soil from baking on during the clean
cycle.  (The gasket is the seal around the oven door and window.)
4. To prevent damage, do not clean or rub the gasket around the oven door.  The gasket is designed to seal in heat during the clean cycle.
5. Wipe up excess grease or spillovers from the oven bottom. This prevents excessive smoking, flare-ups or flaming during the clean cycle.
6. Wipe up sugary and acidic spillovers such as sweet potatoes, tomato, or milk-based sauces. Porcelain enamel is acid-resistant, not acid-proof.  The porcelain finish may discolor if acidic or sugary spills are not wiped up before a self-clean cycle.

Important:
• Oven temperature must be below 400° F to program a clean cycle.
Only one oven can be cleaned at a time.
• Both oven doors lock when either oven is being cleaned.
To set Self-Clean:
1. Close the oven door.
2. Press the Clean pad.
    • CLEAN flashes.
    • SET and UPPER or LOWER flash in the display.
3. Press the Autoset pad.
    • “MEd” (Medium Soil, 3 hours) is displayed.
4. Press the Autoset pad to scroll through the self-cleaning settings.
     “HVy” (Heavy Soil, 4 hours)
     “MEd” (Medium soil, 3 hours)
“LITE” ( Light Soil, 2 hours)
Choosing the soil level of the oven automatically programs the self-cleaning time.
5. After four seconds, the oven will start cleaning.
    • If the door is not closed, beeps will sound and ‘door’ will display.         If the door is not closed within 30 seconds, the self-cleaning       operation will be canceled and the display will return to the time of day.
    • CLEAN will appear in the display.
    • LOCK will flash in the display.  Once the door locks, LOCK will
      remain steady.
    • The cleaning time will start counting down in the display.
